Amazing experience at Dubuque Museum of Art

04/16/2026

Join us for "Barkcloth: A Living Canvas," a special exhibition opening May 1 at the Dubuque Museum of Art and continuing through May 10.

This exhibition explores Lubugo, a traditional Ugandan barkcloth, through wearable art, storytelling, and contemporary visual installation. Featuring work by Stella Atal and curated by Sarah Ndagire, founder of AfriWell Hub, "Barkcloth: A Living Canvas" invites the community to experience barkcloth as heritage, artistry, memory, and creative expression.

Hosted by the Dubuque Museum of Art in collaboration with AfriWell Hub, this exhibition offers a chance to discover the beauty and living legacy of barkcloth.

Support for this work is provided by Big Field Fund, a program of Public Space One. Funding is provided by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
