🏌🏿‍♂️S/WING!

Dublin’s newest public artwork connecting history, nature, and community will be officially dedicated on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd at 4:00p.

City of Dublin, Ohio - Government and Dublin Arts Council invite the public to help celebrate the public artwork by Ivan Depeña, the latest addition to Dublin’s Art in Public Places collection.

Located in the open space between Whittingham Drive and Muirfield Drive
near Muirfield Village Golf Club, the sculpture was made possible through a land
donation from the Muirfield Association and support from the Ohio Legislature.

Created specifically for the site by Hispanic-American artist, sculptor, and architectural designer Ivan Depeña, “S/WING” reflects themes of guidance, transition, and connection.

The sculpture captures the graceful power of movement, where the rhythm of a bird’s
wings meets the timeless form of the golf swing. Inspired in part by Jack Nicklaus’s
legendary technique and the countless swings that have shaped the course since 1974, the sculpture honors both the game’s tradition and its enduring future.

Deb fell in love with pottery at Ohio University, but a 30-year career in corporate retail put clay on the shelf. Now in what she calls her “Deb Tucker 2.0” era, she’s back at the wheel, creating personal, purposeful pieces. Her functional work — vases, bowls, and
pedestal pieces finished with hand-rolled beads and carved details — is always one of a kind, split between two joyful aesthetics: simple elegance with graceful shapes and calming colors, or playful, hand-painted pieces bursting with bright hues and whimsy.

Laura rediscovered ceramics after years away, and now builds her work around drawing, note-taking, and methodical testing, with her background as a painter and printmaker shaping her finished surfaces. Her current work explores mark-making through carving, layered surfaces, engobe, slips, and glazes — treating the thrown
or hand-built piece as just the beginning, with surface design often taking hours and success revealed only upon opening the kiln.

Mike is a retired certified public accountant who discovered a passion for pottery more than 15 years ago — and never looked back. Having studied at studios across three states, he’s developed a style that blends functional, wheel-thrown pottery with a range of surface decoration techniques, including peacock, frozen pond, and layering. His analytical background carries into his work as well, bringing precision and thoughtfulness to every creation; he dedicates up to three hours to glazing each pot alone.
