We recognize Sam Marcellino, OAJ President‑Elect.

Sam is a Partner at Nager Romaine Schneiberg NRS Injury Law where he represents injured workers across Ohio in complex workers’ compensation matters. His practice is rooted in standing up for individuals and ensuring they have access to the full protections of the civil justice system.

Sam has been actively engaged in OAJ leadership and advocacy, working to advance the association’s mission and protect the rights of Ohio workers. He also brings a strong public service perspective through his role as a member of Bexley City Council, where he works to strengthen his local community.
His leadership reflects a clear commitment to service, both in the courtroom and in the communities OAJ serves.

Leadership Spotlight: Allen Tittle, President of OAJ

An Ohio native, Allen has built his career serving communities across the state. In 2015, he founded Tittle & Perlmuter, growing the firm into a statewide practice focused on catastrophic personal injury, including medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, and gas explosion cases. Allen has been part of OAJ leadership for many years. He previously served as Chair of the Medical Malpractice Section and has represented Ohio trial lawyers as an AAJ Delegate.

As he begins his term as President, his message to our members is direct: “Trial lawyers in Ohio are under constant pressure, from insurance lobbies, hospital conglomerates, and legislation that would make it harder to hold corporations accountable. We’re facing serious storms in our profession right now. But if we do this together, there’s no storm we can’t weather. I’m ready to get to work.”

Thank you to OAJ member Konrad Kircher, who submitted testimony this week supporting SB 421, which would extend the civil statute of limitations for sexual offenses from 1 year to 5. On behalf of OAJ, Kircher emphasized: “SB 421 serves a great public benefit by treating crime victims with the respect and dignity they deserve.” Full testimony is here: https://lnkd.in/gJZUKGKf

Nearly a dozen Ohioans also testified on May 20th in support of the bill. Emily Gemar, Director of Public Policy for the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence, stated, “Survivors deserve justice and healing no matter how long it takes.”

Yesterday, as President of OAJ and an attorney who represents injured Ohioans every day, our own Allen Tittle testified before the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee in support of SB 292-- a commonsense bill that restores fairness to Ohio’s civil justice system.
Ohio’s Constitution says the right to a jury trial shall remain “inviolate.” Yet for 20 years, arbitrary caps on noneconomic damages have allowed a statute to slash jury verdicts after jurors go home.
SB 292 does not eliminate caps. It simply adjusts the caps for inflation, so the promise made to injured Ohioans in 2005 is worth the same today as it was then.

This morning, President Allen Tittle will give proponent testimony before the Ohio Senate Committee in support of Senate Bill 292, which would revise caps on noneconomic, punitive, and exemplary damages.
