September may be ending, but prostate cancer awareness doesn’t end here. 💙

Throughout this month, we’ve talked about risk factors, signs and symptoms, PSA screening, early detection, caregivers, support, resources and the importance of starting conversations with the men we love.

But for Brave Men, this isn’t a September mission.

It’s an every-day-of-the-year mission.

Men will still receive diagnoses in October.
Families will still need answers in November.
Someone will still need a Brave Box in December.
And there will always be another man who needs encouragement to have that conversation with his doctor.

So we keep going.

We keep educating.
We keep talking.
We keep supporting men and their families.
We keep advocating for earlier detection.
And we keep working toward more tomorrows.

To everyone who shared one of our posts this month, tagged a man you love, started a conversation, learned something new, scheduled an appointment, asked about a PSA test, supported Brave Men or simply stopped long enough to listen:

Awareness matters. But what we do with that awareness matters even more.

September ends today.

The man who takes care of everyone else.
The one who says he feels fine.
The one who keeps putting off making that appointment.

Send it to him.

Not to scare him or to nag him. But because sometimes the simplest conversation can be the one that matters most.

Ask him if he knows his prostate cancer risk.
Ask if he’s talked with his doctor about PSA screening.
Encourage him to learn his family history.
And remind him that taking care of his health is a sign of strength.

💙 Meet the Brave Box

The Brave Box started on our living room couch.

After Dimitrious had his prostate removed, we knew firsthand that recovery came with needs you don’t necessarily think about until you’re living through it.

So one day, Dimitrious and I sat together and made a list.

What had made him more comfortable?
What had been helpful during his recovery?
What did we wish someone had given us or told us about before surgery?

That list became the beginning of the Brave Box. 💙

Together, we carefully curated a box filled with care and comfort items, along with helpful resources, for men beginning prostate cancer treatment and surgery. We wanted another man opening that box to know that someone had thought about what he might need because we had walked that road, too.

What started as an idea on our couch has now become one of the programs I’m most proud of at Brave Men.

Today, approximately 100 Brave Boxes go out each month, and we have distributed 3650 boxes to men facing prostate cancer.

That’s 3,650 opportunities to say:

We see you.
We’re here for you.
And you don’t have to navigate this alone.

Every Brave Box still carries a piece of the heart behind that first conversation between Dimitrious and me.

And I think he would be incredibly proud of just how far that little idea from our living room couch has traveled. 💙

💙 Men: This Is Your Reminder.

Schedule the appointment.
Ask about your PSA.
Know your number.
Know your risk.

Don’t wait until you have symptoms. Don’t wait until life slows down. Don’t assume that because you feel healthy, there’s nothing to talk about.

Your health matters.
Your life matters.
YOU matter.

And there are people in your life who want you here for all of the moments still to come.

The birthdays.
The graduations.
The vacations.
The ordinary Tuesday nights.
The big milestones and the little moments you don’t even know you’ll miss until they’re gone.

That’s what we mean when we talk about more tomorrows. 💙

So if you’ve been putting off that conversation with your doctor, consider this your sign.

Do it for you.
Do it for the people who love you.
Do it for more tomorrows.

And if you’re reading this thinking of a man you love, send it to him. Sometimes we all need a reminder.

💙 Brave Men at ZangFest 2026

We’ve been out and about this Prostate Cancer Awareness Month! 💙

Brave Men had such a great day at ZangFest, connecting with our community, sharing resources and having conversations about prostate cancer awareness, early detection and the work we’re doing to support men and their families.

A very special thank you to Christin Brown, who put so much heart into making ZangFest happen. Christin has done incredible work in the prostate cancer community here in Columbus, and over time she has also become such a wonderful partner and friend to Brave Men. I’m incredibly grateful for people like Christin who understand the power of bringing people together around this cause.

And there was another pretty special connection that day. 💙

A longtime friend, Raymont Harris, was there sharing an inspiring and motivational message. Raymont and Dimitrious played football together at Ohio State, and he has been a friend of our family for many years. Having him there and seeing these different parts of our lives and this mission continue to intersect was really meaningful to me.

One of my favorite parts of events like this is simply getting the opportunity to talk to people. To answer questions. To share what we’ve learned. To introduce someone to Brave Men. And sometimes, to have the conversation that encourages a man to take his health a little more seriously.

Because awareness isn’t just something we post about during September.

It’s something we take into our communities.

Thank you to Christin, the entire ZangFest team, Raymont, and everyone who stopped by to talk with us. We’re grateful to be part of a community that continues showing up for men and families affected by prostate cancer.

And Brave Men will keep showing up, too. 💙

💙 Real People. Real Impact.

This is why we created the Brave Box.

Kevin received his Brave Box in April 2025 while navigating treatment for stage IV prostate cancer. His message reminded us that sometimes the things that seem small can make a very big difference during an overwhelming time.

Kevin shared:

“Everything is a little scary in the beginning, and that box was so helpful.”

Those words mean more to us than he probably realizes.

The Brave Box was created to provide men beginning their prostate cancer journey with practical resources, comfort, and most importantly, a reminder that there are people standing beside them.

And for Kevin, a lifelong Buckeye fan who grew up watching our co-founder Dimitrious play, receiving his box carried a little extra meaning. 💙

Kevin, thank you for sharing your story with us and allowing us to be a small part of your journey. We’re continuing to stand with you as you fight.

💙 Support Changes Everything

Today is Dimitrious’ birthday. 💙

So it feels especially meaningful that today, during Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we recognize the people who stand beside the men fighting this disease.

The caregivers.

When Dimitrious was diagnosed with stage IV prostate cancer at just 45, I became many things at once. I was his wife, his partner, his advocate, his appointment keeper, his question asker, his encourager and, sometimes, simply the person holding him when there were no words.

Caregiving isn’t always about knowing what to say or having the answers.

Sometimes it’s holding a hand, sitting in the hospital room, or remembering the questions they forgot to ask.
We had to celebrate the good days
and keep carrying hope on the difficult ones.
And sometimes it was just about saying, “I’m here.”

Dimitrious and I co-founded Brave Men because we knew firsthand that prostate cancer doesn’t affect only the man who receives the diagnosis. It affects the people who love him, too.

And that’s part of what No Man Should Fight Alone means to me.

Today, on Dimitrious’ birthday, I honor him, the life he lived, the mission we started together and every caregiver quietly walking beside someone they love.

To the caregivers: you matter, too. Your strength matters. Your presence matters. And you don’t have to carry all of it alone either.

Happy birthday, Dimitrious. 💙

💙 Know the Signs

One of the most important things to know about prostate cancer?

You may not have any signs at all.

Early prostate cancer often causes no symptoms, which is exactly why waiting until something feels wrong isn’t a screening plan.

When symptoms do occur, they can include changes in urination, difficulty emptying the bladder, blood in the urine or semen, erectile difficulties, or persistent pain. More advanced prostate cancer can also cause symptoms such as unexplained weight loss or bone pain.

But these symptoms can also be caused by conditions other than prostate cancer, so experiencing one doesn’t automatically mean cancer. It does mean it’s worth having a conversation with your doctor.

💙 Know what to watch for.
💙 Know your personal risk.
💙 Don’t wait for symptoms to start the conversation about screening.

And please share this with the men you love. Sometimes awareness starts with something as simple as seeing a message like this at the right time.

Early detection can change everything.

💙 Community. Education. Early detection. Action.

This past Saturday, Brave Men was honored to join The 1911 Foundation and the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. for the Man P.L.E.A.S.E., Check Yourself! Prostate Cancer Awareness Event.

This is what awareness looks like in action…bringing men together, creating space for important conversations, connecting families with resources, and most importantly, making PSA screenings and other health screenings accessible.

We were proud to be there sharing the mission of Brave Men, connecting with men and their families, and showcasing our Brave Boxes and the resources available to support men navigating a prostate cancer diagnosis.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible, including the healthcare professionals, community organizations, sponsors, volunteers, and fraternity members who showed up with one common goal: helping men take charge of their health.

During Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we’ll keep saying it:

Men, P.L.E.A.S.E. check yourself. Know your PSA. Know your risk. Start the conversation. 💙

Have you had the PSA conversation? 💙

A PSA test is a simple blood test that measures prostate-specific antigen and can be one tool doctors use to help detect prostate cancer. When prostate cancer is found early, there may be more treatment options and better outcomes.

But knowing when to begin screening isn’t one-size-fits-all. Age, family history, race and other individual risk factors matter.

So today, we’re asking you to start the conversation.

💙 Men: Ask your doctor about your prostate cancer risk and when PSA screening may be right for you.

💙 Wives, partners, daughters, sons and friends: Encourage the men you love to make their health a priority.

It doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable conversation. It can simply start with:

“Have you talked to your doctor about getting a PSA test?”

One conversation can lead to one appointment.
One appointment can lead to early detection.
And early detection can change a life.
