CAIR-Ohio was founded in 1998 in Columbus, Ohio. Cleveland and Cincinnati offices were added in 2003 & 2004 respectively. Our vision is to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding. Our mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

Know Your Rights: Law Enforcement

Knowing your rights can help you navigate encounters with law enforcement and protect your constitutional rights.

Remember:

• You have the right to remain silent. You can ask to speak with an attorney before answering questions.

• You can refuse a search. Clearly state that you do not consent, though officers may still search when legally authorized.

• You have the right to an attorney. If you are detained or arrested, request legal counsel and avoid answering questions until you have spoken with an attorney.

On Monday, October 5th, is the official voter registration deadline in Ohio.
If you have recently moved, turned 18, changed your legal name, or need to register for the first time, your application or record update must be completed by Monday the 5th to vote in the General Election.
