Pope Francis Center Pope Francis Center provides a welcoming, safe place for those experiencing homelessness to tend to

Pope Francis Center is a Jesuit ministry which provides meals, supportive services, and housing assistance to Detroit community members in need, especially those experiencing homelessness. Located in the heart of downtown Detroit, our ministry is made possible thanks to the generosity of our surrounding community. On an average day, we welcome nearly 200 guests and serve as many nutritious meals.

We also provide warm showers, laundry services, and access to doctors, dentists, lawyers, mental health professionals, and housing providers through our free clinics.

Most importantly, we recognize the inherent dignity in each person who comes to us and treat them with the love God offers to all His children.

WISH LIST WEDNESDAY: Recently, the GRSM50 Law Firm team joined us at the Pope Francis Center Day Center, providing pro bono legal guidance and helping serve meals to our guests.

They also generously purchased much-needed items from our Amazon Wish List. One team member shared, “We found the time to be very meaningful and are looking forward to coming back soon.”

We’re grateful to GRSM50 for sharing their time, expertise and resources with our community. 💚

WISH LIST WEDNESDAY: You never know how far a conversation about your mission might travel.

Recently, at the end of a service day, a gentleman came into the Pope Francis Center Day Center with a story he wanted to share.

While walking his dog, he noticed a $100 bill on the ground. After looking around to see if someone had dropped it, he picked it up. In that moment, he remembered a conversation he had overheard the day before while riding the QLINE.

Two passengers were talking about the support they receive from Pope Francis Center, specifically mentioning something as simple, but essential, as receiving new underwear.

That conversation stayed with him.

Rather than keep the money he had found, he walked to our Day Center and donated the full $100 so we could purchase underwear for our guests.

Through our Amazon Wish List, his generosity provided **24 pairs of new underwear**, which were distributed to guests through our front office.

It is a powerful reminder that you never know who is hearing about your work, who is being moved by it, or how one small act of compassion can turn into something meaningful for someone else.

At Pope Francis Center, dignity is often found in the everyday essentials many of us take for granted. Underwear, socks, hygiene products and other basic necessities can make a real difference for the people we serve.

If you would like to help provide these essential items for our guests, please consider supporting the Pope Francis Center Amazon Wish List here: https://a.co/0jekSijK

Sometimes, generosity begins with simply paying attention. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to Paul Kalil and Kalil Enterprises Limited, Inc. for stepping up when Pope Francis Center needed help this week.

When our walk-in freezer went offline, we had to quickly move everything offsite to keep the food at a safe temperature until repairs could be made. Paul and his team generously donated transportation and cold-storage services, helping us protect the food we use to serve our guests.

We are also grateful to our former residents who pitched in to move the food from the freezer to pallets for pickup. It was a true team effort.

Thank you, Paul, Kalil Enterprises, and everyone who jumped in to help! 💙
