Looking for an amazing company or organization to partner with us for the kickoff week of our 2026 Summer Kamp! ☀️✈️

From June 29–July 1, (for an hour) we’re looking for a team to help us create high-energy, interactive experiences for 35–45 Detroit youth through:
• Team building activities
• Icebreakers & games
• Leadership and confidence-building activities
• Fun engagement that helps students build relationships and start summer strong

The Konnection serves youth through mentorship, academic support, exposure opportunities, and relationship-centered programming designed to increase school connectedness and improve attendance outcomes.

This is a great opportunity for a company team looking to volunteer, engage employees, and make a meaningful impact with Detroit youth.

We know that when families are engaged, students tend to be more present, konnected, and excited about school. Creating opportunities for families to build community with one another is an important part of the work we do at The Konnection.

Grateful for partners who don’t just write checks…..they show up.

For the past two years, Turner Construction Company has been a true champion for our kiddos! They recently delivered a check directly to our kiddos, a powerful reminder that their dreams and futures are worth investing in.

From mentorship to career exploration to unforgettable experiences like visiting their Manhattan headquarters this past summer, Turner continues to pour into our students in ways that go far beyond funding.

When young people see professionals who believe in them, it changes what they believe is possible. Thank you, Carmen Gaines, Alec Serfozo and Turner Construction, for being part of the village. 💜

Career pathways in action 💼

As the finale to our 6-week financial literacy pathway, our students visited Michigan Legacy Credit Union’s Wyandotte branch for a behind-the-scenes tour with CEO Carma Peters and team. They shadowed various departments, participated in a money counting challenge, and learned just how many careers exist in the financial world.

Special shoutout to Konnection mentor Andrea, who helped spark this partnership and continues to open doors for our youth 👏

Our kiddos took on Michigan Afterschool Partnership’s Afterschool Day at the Capitol in Lansing yesterday! 🏛️

They toured the Capitol, elevated their voices, and even met Gretchen Whitmer 🙌🏽

A powerful day of connection, advocacy, and showing up with purpose.

Opportunity is closer than we think…sometimes it’s right in our own backyard. 💜

Through our Kloset Konversations series, students visited Linwood Fresh Market to meet a Black woman entrepreneur in their own neighborhood while learning about healthy nutrition and making choices that support healthy minds and bodies.

Grateful to partner with SOLO to provide real-life learning experiences that inspire our youth. 🌱

Our kiddos chose to give back last month… and their hearts showed up in a big way. 💜

They volunteered with Sunrise Senior Living, facilitating rounds of bingo, playing alongside residents, and supporting seniors who needed a little extra help. The smiles, laughter, and connection in the room were truly special. The residents loved our kiddos…and the feeling was mutual. We were even asked to come back!

Each quarter, our students choose where they want to serve and how they want to make an impact. It’s a joy teaching the next generation the importance of compassion, connection, and giving back. 🌱

Shoutout to our incredible partners at Leveling the Playing Field, Inc.! Because of their generosity, The Konnection Klosets were stocked with brand new coats, hoodies, and clothing to help ensured our students stayed warm and confident during the final stretch of Michigan’s cold weather.

Partnerships like this allow us to continue removing barriers for our youth and expanding our reach and impact in meaningful ways. When students have what they need, they can focus on learning, growing, and showing up as their best selves.

Grateful for partners who believe in our mission and invest in the futures of our kiddos.💜

Last week, our kiddos and mentors participated in an engaging Hygiene & Wellness Workshop focused on confidence, self-care, and showing up as their best selves.

The young ladies’ session was led by Bees Beauty Bar owner & esthetician Ms. Brittany, and the young men’s session was facilitated by community leader Mr. Ed. Students learned practical hygiene and grooming skills through fun, interactive activities….and each received hygiene kits to support what they learned.

Because when you look good and smell good, you feel good… and confidence shows up everywhere.

Grateful for partners who help us remove barriers and support the whole child. 💙
