Reminder! Our 'Get to know your neighbors' multigenerational construction paper portraits event is THIS SATURDAY (8/8) from 4pm-8pm. Our store and our classroom will be open until 8pm! Wow Wow!

We will have free snacks and beverages and lots of great conversations. Come hangout with Stevie and Tatiana and learn about our community changes happening and all the cool amazing ways Arts & Scraps can resource you and yours!

Planted on the Eastside for nearly 40 years, we are strengthening our roots. We are raising funds for preliminary assessments in the hopes of one day owning our current building. We have been supported by our community since day one and now we need your support in a big way. Please take a moment to donate and share with the people you know.

Get to know your neighbors and make construction paper portraits event!!

We are hosting a free multigenerational event on Saturday August 8th from 4pm-8pm at the Arts & Scraps Community Store (16135 Harper ave, Detroit MI 48224)

Not only will we be showcasing some cool creative projects we will also be serving up some free snacks and beverages for you to chill and enjoy with us. Our community store will be open for late night Saturday shopping. Bring your friends, bring your grandparents, bring your kids, bring your neighbor or just bring yourself! Arts & Scraps is a great place for you to come and meet new folks in the community. Share this post with a friend or neighbor you wanna get to know!

Arts & Scraps is seeking a Community Store Assistant to support our store operations. This person would report directly to the Store Manager but will also work alongside the rest of the Arts & Scraps staff. This job requires constant multitasking and solid organization and problem-solving skills. Must work be able to work Thursdays and Saturdays with flexibility to cover other shifts, $15 per hour; 1 week of earned vacation and a 3% match to a 403(b) retirement fund after 1 year.

This job involves working within two areas of the Arts & Scraps store, receiving and sorting donations through our intake systems, pricing and research of items.
Along with running our community store during some operation hours; greeting and aiding customers, training and manage volunteers efficiently and effectively while creating a good experience.

Applications accepted through July 16th, 2026. You will be contacted if chosen for an interview. Equal Opportunity Employer Committed to Diversity.

Arts & Scraps will be closed this Saturday July 4th. Make sure you come out and grab all your needed supplies before the weekend. Our store will be open Tuesday & Thursday from 11am-6pm and Friday 11am-4pm.

Its gonna be really hot one and we have great air conditioning in our store so come out and chill out with us before this weekend.

Its June and there are a lot of cool ways to hangout with Arts & Scraps this June.

-Come out to .farms this Saturday June 13th for their (pre summer) equinox block party from 1pm-6pm at 3171 Lakeview st, Detroit MI 48215. This event is free and open to the public.

-Join Arts & Scraps at the Detroit River Walk this Juneteenth (Friday 6/19) from 11am-3pm at 1325 Atwater st, Detroit MI 48207. This event it free and open to the public.

-Join Arts & Scraps and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra at Spotlight park 5945 Linwood st, Detroit MI 48208 on Sat June 20th from 1pm-3pm for a Juneteenth musical celebration. This event is free and open to the public.

-Join Arts & Scraps for a special fundraiser event call Passion Fruit brought to you by and hosted at Takoi, 2520 Michigan ave, Detroit MI 48216 from 4pm-8pm. A percentage of the drinks served on the patio will be donated to our organization. This event is all ages and open to the public, but attendees are required to purchase beverages and/or food from Takoi to come hangout on their patio.

As always our community store is open this week on Tuesdays & Thursdays 11am-6pm and Fridays & Saturdays 11am- 4pm. BUT! Our store will be closed Friday June 19th to celebrate Juneteenth. Reach out to us with any questions or comments folks! Yay June is here!
