The Westland Police Department is incredibly devastated to share the loss of our beloved partner, K9 Odin.

Odin was born in Jessen, Germany, on January 4th, 2019. In 2020, he was paired with his devoted partner and life-long companion, Officer Teschendorf, where he proudly began his career as a Westland Police Department K9. Odin courageously served his community from December 2020, until his passing on March 23rd, 2026.

Throughout his distinguished career, Odin was highly trained in narcotics detection, tracking human odor, suspect apprehensions, and article searches. When he wasn’t patrolling the streets of Westland, Odin enjoyed spending time within our community. Odin always embraced the pets and love that he received from our residents at schools, trunk-or-treats, festivals, barbeques, andshop with a cop events.

Outside of his role as a police K9, Odin was a beloved family member, loyal partner, and an irreplaceable member of a Westland Police Department family. We ask that you keep Officer Teschendorf, his family, and the Westland Police Department in your thoughts during this difficult time. His unexpected loss has left a void within our hearts that is difficult to express. Odin was a true hero and a cherished partner. He will be incredibly missed.

Rest in peace, Odin. Your watch has ended.
