13 years can go by in a flash am I right?
I still remember it like it was yesterday...
I remembered all the preparation that we did. all the phone calls all the conversations all the meetings. It didn't feel real, even when we were preparing for the event.
I felt it the day of. I woke up in the morning with a smile on my face, put on my suit with the swagger of a player in the show, and drove to the rink as early as possible to make sure that everything was ready to go. But the feeling… it was very odd. It was this mixture of anxiety and excitement. I was so worried about everything going to plan, yet I felt like a real-life NHL player when I stepped on that ice with the no bucky warm-up, the national anthem, and the chance to play in a bowl like arena... I definitely felt some
Gforces that day considering it was like a roller coaster of emotions.
It was so worth it!
That same feeling always carries over year after year when we get closer to the big game and, forgive me fornapinding like a little emo crying baby back bitch here, but I am so lucky to go out there, raise money for a great cause, and play the game I love with the people I love, with people we love watching in a big game-like atmosphere. I couldn't ask for anything more in life.
I'm excited to do it again, and I hope you are as well. Because if there's another thing I'm excited about, its the fact that we get to raise money for an amazing organization like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Michigan Chapter. For years, those fine folks have done everything they could to fight the disease known as cystic fibrosis. I know a few great people who are still dealing with it today, and one that is unfortunately no longer with us to this day. And I'm sure you all might know somebody who is dealing with it today.
So this year, and I hate to be the pun guy again... but we need to drop the gloves and knock CF the F$ #% out!
Come on down next Saturday, August 10 to St. Clair Shores Civic Ice Arena in beautiful Saint Clair Shores, MI!!! Puck drops at high noon as my gunslingers, the Vishamaniacs, head to the OK corral known as the Gardens for a showdown with Stephen Angelo's Angelunatics. If you like hockey, great! If not, then we've got some other cool stuff lgoing on like raffles for some pretty dope prizes and 5050s where you can get that cheddar. We got some merch too, make sure to snag some of that! Regardless of what you do, all of the profits go directly to the CF foundation. Let's put on that tinfoil and give CF the old what for, ay?
Oh, and while I hope we absolutely destroy the Angelunatics, I will say that regardless of the outcome I'm just thankful to play hockey with my buds.
