A young volunteer showed up at our thrift store three days a week, always with a smile, even while her family was living in a hotel and she faced bullying at school.

When our team learned what she was going through, they gathered clothing and hygiene essentials for her and her family. A local hair salon even donated makeovers for her and her mother.

Two weeks later, the family returned with the best possible news: they'd found permanent housing.

This is neighbors helping neighbors, up close.

It was a gorgeous day on Lake Huron on Friday, July 24th, as we hosted Vincentians and camp supporters to celebrate Camp Ozanam.

The day included Mass with Fr. Ron Victor and spectating the Ozzie Olympics. We were also honored to present Chuck Piotrowski with the Camp Medallion to celebrate his many years of dedication to Camp Ozanam.

Thank you to everyone who attended!

More than 5,200 Catholics filled Huntington Place in downtown Detroit last week for the Rising from the Ashes Revival, and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Detroit was proud to take part.

Matt Hunt and Jordan Battaglia from our Conference Support team joined volunteer Suzanne Johnson at a ministry fair table, connecting with neighbors and sharing how SVdP Detroit lives out our mission of friendship, spirituality, and service across Metro Detroit.

Events like this remind us why we do this work. Faith calls us into community, and community calls us to serve.
