Just Because We Care

At Just Because We Care, the we believe in exposing our youth to opportunities, mentorship, and people who can help them see what’s possible.

We were honored to receive an invitation from the Southfield Fire Department for one of our young men who dreams of becoming a firefighter. He had the opportunity to learn about the profession, meet firefighters, and even connect with a firefighter Dominique Smith who offered to mentor him on his journey. This is what community looks like, opening doors, sharing knowledge, and investing in the next generation.

Thank you, Southfield Fire Department, for welcoming us and helping us continue to build up our youth and build up our community.

Y’all may or may not remember that after first card marking this school year, we had to place one of our youth at the JBWC foster home on punishment by taking away his electronics. He was blowing it academically. Smart young man, but he had settled for summer school and was using his ADHD diagnosis and other excuses as reasons to give up.

Well, through mentoring, accountability, exposure, and PRESSURE… guess who is walking the stage today? And guess who is headed off to Oakland University this fall?

I want us to remember that there were many entities and people involved in planting seeds into this young man’s life. It takes a village. If we all do our parts, no matter how big or small, true impact is possible.

This is why we do what we do at Just Because We Care Foundation. Just Because We Care

We want our youth to understand the art of giving without expecting something in return. Serving others doesn’t require an audience or an agenda. It requires a willing and cheerful heart just because we care.

He did it! One of the youth at the JBWC foster home put in the necessary work to Graduate high school. May God bless him in his next chapter.

JBWC Foster Home is kicking off Quarter One of our Life Skills Program with a focus on Wisdom—helping our youth grow in character, decision-making, and purpose.

We’re inviting mentors, leaders, and like-minded community members to join our village and pour into our young men twice a month. Your time, experience, and encouragement can make a lasting impact.
