313.879.5630 Back Alley Bikes is a 501(c)3 non-profit community bike shop, which has been operating in the Cass Corridor for 15 years. Our mission is to provide cycling education and services with a focus on youth development, sustainable practices and community access. We work to achieve this mission by offering a variety of educational programs, volunteer training & opportunities, as well as rides and other types of support related to cycling education, materials, and resources. Back Alley Bikes is funded in many ways, but our main fundraiser is our retail shop The Hub of Detroit. The Hub refurbishes and sells a portion of our used bike donations, and 100% of the proceeds from those sales and used part sales benefit Back Alley Bikes, and are used to fund our programs.

We're not quite back but it's almost time! Hope to see you THIS Wednesday from 5-8pm for volunteer night. This week we are stripping bike frames and getting ready to introduce an opportunity for you to get your next project to work on during the colder months.

Slow Fashion Slow Roll is an official Detroit Month of Design event organized and supported by Slow Stitch Detroit, Slow Roll Detroit Thursday Nights, 𝕮𝖑𝖔𝖙𝖍𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕾𝖜𝖆𝖕 𝕱𝖊𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖛𝖆𝖑, and Back Alley Bikes.

A fashion show on wheels—this event highlights the needs and creativity Detroiters have around accessible clothing, art, and transportation. Meet the designers, artists, and enthusiasts that keep Detroit alive and thriving!

You’ve heard of “fast fashion” but what is “slow fashion”? How can we learn skills like clothing and bike repair to improve our quality of life and access to basic needs in a world that challenges those needs often.
