The Trumbullplex is a Anarchist housing collective with an active gathering space and a zine library. It was “founded” in 1993, although artists, activists, radicals, and freaks from all around the block have called it home since the 70′s. The Trumbullplex theatre collective runs the art space to sustain and move forward art, activism, and education in Detroit. We partner with the Trumbullplex re

sidents, neighbors, artists, people of conscience, and any potential allies to build a safe space for sharing art and ideas free from oppression.

ATTN LOCAL BANDS 🗣️ Are you looking for somewhere to practice, but running into obstacles? Not enough space? Afraid of disturbing neighbors? Well come disturb us instead! (Jk, we’re happy to have you 🫶🏽). As a way to connect w more bands in the area and provide another resource for creatives, we’re introducing practice space for bands in our gathering space.

These practices can be scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between the hours of 1p-10p, depending on the day/our availability. End time of 10pm is not flexible out of respect for our neighbors, at least until we get better sound proofing. Practice space costs will be on a sliding scale within reason, with all funds supporting the space. If you’re interested, please DM us.

We do not have a back line, so for now, you will have to bring your own stuff. However we are working on figuring what getting a back line would look like. If you’re interested in helping us with this program OR have any questions/suggestions, please reach out.

1) The Leland City Club, which has long served as a third space and safe haven for a heavily underserved music community
2) Residents of the Leland, so that they will not have to abruptly rehouse themselves. (Nobody deserves to lose their home ever, but during a projected extremely cold winter & right before the holidays, this would be a particularly harsh time for relocation.)

Trying to find someway not to give up our bus. Please help if possible. The bus has been here longer than all of us.

They called the police on our landscaper/restorer who was using the bus during the day while he was working. His whole function was to help us to reduce our blight violations, so it’s extremely ironic this happened.

Peace, y’all! We don’t typically like to ask for donations without anything to offer in return, but recently we lost heat in all three of our properties due to various coincidental issues with our boilers & furnaces. As a result, we haven’t been able to focus on hosting gatherings. We have gotten 2/3 fixed, but it has exhausted all of our funds we saved for the Winter.

While we are getting back into the swing of things, we would really appreciate some help with our current utilities & operational expenses — anything helps. We know many are struggling currently and are extremely appreciative of donations &/or reposts. Link is in bio. Thank you!

Ember is one of the founders of & dedicated volunteer/collaborator of the space. She puts so much time and effort into making our goals at tplex possible.
