DBG - Detroit is a 501(C) 3 nonprofit that develops good citizenship in urban youth through a demanding boxing program combined with strong academic support and a connection to the community through volunteer service.

Growth doesn't happen by accident.

At our 2nd Annual Jr. Coach Internship Capstone Fair, students stood in front of staff, peers, and supporters to share what they learned, how they grew, and who they're becoming. What people saw were presentations. What made those presentations possible were months of mentorship, accountability, encouragement, feedback, and real-world experience from staff who invested in them every step of the way.

Leadership isn't something we teach from a workbook. It's built through relationships, responsibility, and opportunities to practice.

We're proud of every Jr. Coach who presented and grateful for every staff member who helped make their growth possible.

The next generation of leaders is already here. 💜

Supporting young people means being prepared to protect them.

Yesterday, our entire team spent the day with Care House for Mandated Reporter and Human Trafficking Training, strengthening our ability to recognize signs of abuse, exploitation, and situations where a young person may need support.

At DBG, relationships are at the center of everything we do. The trust students place in us comes with responsibility. Training like this helps ensure we're equipped to respond with care, knowledge, and action when it matters most.

Thank you to Care House for sharing your expertise and helping us continue to create a safe, informed, and supportive environment for every student and family we serve.

✈️ 🇯🇵 Sayonara, Japan 2026!

This morning, 15 DBG students boarded a plane and set off on a journey they'll never forget.

For months, they've been preparing for this moment—learning about Japanese customs, culture, language, and what it means to travel internationally with curiosity and respect. Now, it's time to experience it firsthand.

Over the next nine days, they'll explore new places, meet new people, step outside their comfort zones, and see the world through a different lens.

Growth happens when we expand our understanding of what's possible. We can't wait to hear the stories, lessons, and memories they bring home.

Safe travels, students. The world is waiting. 🌏💙

Our seniors are taking their next steps toward college, trade school, military service, and careers — each pathway different, each journey their own. That’s what growth looks like. Not one destination. Not one definition of success. Just young people stepping boldly into futures they’ve worked hard to build.

At DBG, we believe there isn’t one path to a meaningful life. The goal has always been helping students discover who they are, what they care about, and giving them the support to move toward it with confidence. We’ve watched these students grow over the years, and while this chapter is ending, our commitment isn’t.

Class of 2026, we are so proud of you!

STEAM isn’t just about science experiments. It’s about giving students the chance to explore, investigate, and discover interests they may not have known they had. Sometimes growth starts with being willing to look a little closer… and these frog dissections were the perfect reminder of that. 🐸🔬

Our 8th graders recently crossed an important milestone at DBG: High School Induction. Not just a ceremony, but a moment that recognized how far they’ve come and the next chapter they’re stepping into.

As students move from middle school into high school, they’re not just changing grades — they’re stepping into new responsibilities, new opportunities, and new versions of themselves. Families, staff, and our village came together to celebrate the growth, hard work, and potential we already see in each of them.

At DBG, we know transitions matter. We don’t just prepare students for the next step academically — we help build the confidence, relationships, and support systems they’ll need to navigate what comes next. Because growth doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through consistency, community, and people who believe in you every step of the way.

High school, here they come. We’ll be right beside them. ❤️

For one afternoon the DBG field turned into a full-on rivalry. ⚽🔥

Staff V Student games are always live at DBG! This time, students and staff went head-to-head in a soccer match filled with big plays, bigger reactions, and enough energy to keep everyone on their feet. Every goal felt like a championship moment.

Moments like this matter. Competition, connection, laughter, and community all in one place. Around here, it’s never just a game. It’s being part of the village.
