Today we remember Derrick Miles.
U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class Derrick L. Miles Sr. passed away on June 17th, 2017, from a service-connected accident. Derrick was proud to serve his country, and is remembered for his honorable service, his devotion to his family, and the lasting impact he made on those who had the privilege of knowing him. Derrick’s widow Ramesha attended her first retreat at Holbrook Farms in 2025, and is returning this summer as a Facilitator. Today we remember Derrick’s sacrifice and his family left behind.

Alumni Spotlight: Izzy Plantenberg!
Izzy came to our 3rd Sisters of the Fallen Retreat in 2023, all the way from Esko, Minnesota! She is one of our many Minnesota sister alumni, and she brought a bright light and sweet spirit to the sisters group that year. Her skills as a nurse even came in handy dealing with a medical situation at our Spanky's dinner. We are so grateful Izzy is in the Holbrook Farms Family. And happy belated birthday! 🎂😊

Summer is the best time at Holbrook Farms because it's when our mission really goes into action. Here is this season's retreat lineup:

June 23-27: Widows of the Fallen
July 21-25: Sisters of the Fallen
August 11-15: Mothers of the Fallen
September 9-13: Alumni Retreat

Although the rain stopped them the first time, we are thankful the Kiwanis group rescheduled and visited Holbrook Farms last week! Thank you to the volunteers who gave our flower beds some much needed love and care...we are counting down to our first retreat and it takes a team to get everything ready!

Alumni Spotlight!
This month's Alumni Spotlight is Amy Dellentash. Amy was a part of our very first Sisters of the Fallen Retreat in 2021, and has returned as a Facilitator. Here's what she has to say about the Holbrook experience:

🍁🍁🍁"My time at Holbrook Farms has been truly healing. The connections I made there are genuine and meaningful, and I hold each person I met close to my heart. One of my favorite experiences was hiking together to see the trolls hidden in the woods. While seeing them was amazing, what made the experience so special was sharing the adventure, laughter, and connection with others. Although grief is what brought us together, being able to create joyful memories alongside one another was incredibly meaningful. I'm so grateful for the experience and I look forward to returning again!"🍁🍁🍁
