The Latina Leadership Initiative of Greater Des Moines (LLI) is the only leadership development program focused on Latina women in Iowa. LLI focuses on filling a gap in the lack of culturally appropriate leadership training for emerging Latina leaders, ages 20 and above and cultivates social responsibility and attention to the needs of the broader Latino/x community. LLI participants receive the encouragement necessary to realize their potential through leadership training, focusing on personal growth, professional advancement, and community networking and engagement. The empowered participant will serve on boards, commissions, and in leadership roles throughout our communities.

September was a busy and beautiful month for LLI! From attending events to connecting with our community at different booths, we had so many opportunities to celebrate and uplift one another.

One of our favorite activities invited fellow Latinas to leave encouraging messages for each other, creating a space filled with love, support, and empowerment.

Here’s a recap of the heartfelt messages we received! We’re so grateful for this community and the power of women uplifting women. Together, we continue to remind each other that we are seen, valued, and supported.

HERBIZ Session Recap

We had a wonderful session this past Saturday! Our Entrepreneur Workshop is nearing the end, and we couldn’t be more proud of our participants for the time, effort, and dedication they’ve poured into this experience.

We kicked off the session with Gabrielle Vazquez of Vazquez Law Office. Gabrielle showed actionable steps and provided business clarity for our participants.

We had a wonderful and insightful session with Miriam De Dios Woodward of De Dios Consulting, a longtime supporter of LLI! We’re grateful to have Miriam join us and share her expertise, guidance, and encouragement with our HERBIZ participants to help perfect their business pitch.

We wrapped up the day with Somos Digilab, a local marketing agency here in Des Moines. Their session was filled with valuable knowledge, practical insights, and strategies to help our entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses and elevate their brands.

We’re so thankful to all of our incredible community partners who continue to invest in and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. We’re nearing the finish line, and we couldn’t be prouder of our HERBIZ participants!
