Central Iowa Mineral Society The Central Iowa Mineral Society (CIMS) brings together people who are passionate about rocks, minerals, fossils, and geology. Join us! Social 7:30 p.m.

Member activities include a monthly program that is open to the public, rock and fossil hunting field trips, and more! OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Program meetings are held the Friday after Labor Day, the first Friday of the month October - May. (Depending on Drake's schedule the January meeting is sometimes the second Friday.) Various locations on Drake University Campus, Des Moines, Iowa.

Annual family picnic in June. Several field trips are scheduled each spring and fall. CIMS owns the prestigious Halver Straight Mineral Collection. The collection is currently in storage and is to be on exhibit again when the renovation of the exhibit space on the Drake University campus is completed. For more information: [email protected]

Featuring Identification information.
Please bring your examples of Iowa Marine Fossils, for Show and Tell and identification.
Try to bring fossils, one of each type, you may have, so we can have a well rounded grouping of the various phyla., species, etc.
