See Historic Sherman Hill in all its glory as it, like DMARC, also celebrates a 50th Anniversary in 2026. This is a great chance to see the historic homes in the light before experiencing them when Halloween on the Hill returns to the neighborhood on October 30.

From its beginnings in the 1870s, our neighborhood has maintained a prominent place in the city’s heritage, and its architecture earned the distinction of Des Moines’ first local historical district in 1982. Learn more

DMARC CEO Kathy Underhill spent some time this month volunteering with Urban Bicycle Food Ministry and delivering food and personal care items to our unsheltered neighbors.

It's so important in this work to better understand our role in helping to solve the puzzle of hunger. We are so grateful for the many volunteers and community leaders in the space that make it possible to help our neighbors in need.

Turns out, tell the John Deere team there’s a little friendly competition involved and things get serious FAST. 😎

Market Intern Colin tagged along with the John Deere crew during the Fill The Bag Challenge for as teams raced through the streets of The Market to rack up points while shopping for produce to donate to Meals From The Market.

There was strategy. There was speed. There was some very competitive produce shopping. And Colin was there trying to keep up with all of it to give you a look at giving back, John Deere style!
