We’ll spend one night under the stars so homeless youth across Iowa have the support they need to reach them. Because every young person deserves the chance to dream, grow, and build a future they can see for themselves. 💙

We honor Sgt. Delcan Coady, a young man whose life was defined by service and care for others. Long before joining the Army Reserve, Declan was already making a difference in his community. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he built Adirondack chairs for youth at IHYC, creating a tangible reminder to young people that someone believed in them and their potential.

That spirit of giving carried into his military service, where he served with dedication and courage. Sgt. Coady’s life reminds us that acts of kindness, big and small, leave a lasting impact. We hold his family, friends, and all who knew him in our hearts during this difficult time.

A scoutmaster is remembering Sgt. Declan Coady’s lifelong commitment to service, from earning Eagle Scout to helping Iowa youth before joining the Army Reserve.

Our team at Iowa Homeless Youth Centers - IHYC was thrilled to welcome an amazing volunteer team from Nationwide last week! 💛

We had the chance to share a bit about YSS & IHYC, answer questions, and talk about ways they can help us work toward ending youth homelessness.

A huge thank you to the volunteers for cooking a delicious lunch for around 40 clients and helping organize our clothing closet. We couldn’t do this important work without your support! 🙌

Dangerously cold weather is expected across central Iowa this weekend.

The National Weather Service warns of subzero wind chills, with frostbite possible on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes. Conditions may last through the weekend.

To help keep people safe, we'll continue providing free rides to approved daytime warming centers and overnight shelter services while Polk County’s Extreme Temperature Plan is active, which is expected through at least Monday.
