Please join us on April 14 at 6:30 for our annual Yom Hashoah commemoration at HEA. This year, we are focusing on the Future of Holocaust Education. Along with the music of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, the annual lighting ceremony, and a special interview with survivor Osi Sladek, we welcome another special guest, Kelley Szany from the Illinois Holocaust Museum.
Kelley will talk about how IHMEC is transforming history from a passive lesson into a personal encounter, connecting thousands around the world using modern technology.

The Future of Our Past: Preserving History Through Innovation As we transition into an era without living Holocaust survivors, the urgency to preserve their voices has never been greater. The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center (IHMEC) is meeting this challenge by pioneering world-class, im...

Concerned psychologists established the Psychology of Antisemitism Fund at the American Psychological Foundation to support rigorous research into the psychological roots and impact of antisemitism. This currently allows for one grant/yr to be awarded to a researcher.

The conversation we share will speak to the broader issue as well as explore the area of research of our main presenter.

Understanding Campus Dynamics that Marginalize Jewish College students.
Dr. Ella Ben Hagai, California State University, Fullerton.
In recent years, Israel has assumed a central role in public debate in the United States. Traditional forms of antisemitism have re-emerged on the political right, while relatively newer forms of anti-Israel sentiment have developed on the center and the left. Together, these dynamics have contributed to the marginalization of Jewish college students, particularly those with a connection to Israel. In this talk, I present findings from an in-depth interview study with both Jewish and non-Jewish students examining their attitudes toward Israel and Palestine. I also discuss results from a recent survey of non-Jewish college students assessing their views on Israel and Jews more broadly. The findings highlight the narratives underlying different forms of anti-Jewish beliefs, as well as best practices and frameworks for addressing them. Look forward to sharing time on April 23.
