Africa Development Promise is proud to be recognized as one of the development partners helping transform Bugesera District, where partners collectively contribute more than RWF 6 billion annually toward agriculture, education, infrastructure, water, and community development.

For more than a decade, Africa Development Promise has worked alongside local communities to strengthen agricultural cooperatives, improve market access, expand climate-smart farming, and create sustainable economic opportunities for rural families.

We're creating access to opportunity. In Uganda, many of the young women who enroll in our vocational training programs travel long distances from rural communities. Transportation can be expensive, unreliable, and time-consuming. For some, the daily commute makes participation impossible. To address this challenge, we are moving forward with plans to construct a dormitory at our vocational training center. The dormitory rooms will provide safe, affordable accommodation for women who would otherwise be unable to attend training programs due to distance and transportation constraints.

Today is World Rural Development Day! For the past 12 years, Africa Development Promise has partnered with rural women in Rwanda and Uganda to address the root causes of poverty by advancing economic opportunity, food security, gender equity, and sustainable livelihoods.

We've constructed cold storage facilities (to increase profits for our women-led cooperatives), supported microbusiness development, and helped strong communities of women uplift each other by giving them the tools and space to do so! Measuring What Matters

At Africa Development Promise, we believe impact is about more than building infrastructure—it’s about creating lasting change.

Our Rwanda team is currently conducting an Infrastructure Impact Study to assess how ADP-supported irrigation systems, greenhouses, training centers, packhouses, cold storage facilities, and water systems have strengthened cooperatives, improved livelihoods, and increased economic opportunity.

By listening to cooperative members and documenting lessons learned, we can better understand what works, strengthen future investments, and continue building pathways to economic independence for the women and families we serve.

Across Uganda and Rwanda, we meet parents who wake before dawn, work long hours in the fields, run small businesses, and make countless sacrifices so their children can attend school, stay healthy, and dream bigger than circumstances might allow.

At Africa Development Promise, we believe that when parents are equipped with skills, resources, and opportunities, entire families thrive.
