A Special Visit to Fastly!

TechNation Careers' Executive Director, Steven Goslee, recently visited Fastly with Ilham Hbaci, Ph.D. who now serves as a Mission Control Engineer!

It was amazing to see Ilham light up in her new work home. She even brought traditional Libyan sweets to share with her team!

Moments like these remind us that our work is about more than job placements. It's about helping New Americans build meaningful careers, find belonging, and thrive.

Language acquisition is not the same for everyone & it’s not linear.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Of the 2,000 adults with low literacy we surveyed, 36% are raising children under 18, and parents were among the groups most likely to express strong interest in enrolling in a learning program.

Yet when family literacy enters the national conversation, ALL IN's landscape analysis found it is discussed almost entirely in terms of resources for the child rather than for the adult in the household.

ALL IN network member the National Center for Families Learning has spent decades closing that gap, designing two-generation approaches that treat the parent as a learner in their own right and the family as a unit for growing literacy.

Oops we forgot to post for Banned Books Week! Luckily it’s never too late to read! Thanks to our partner The Literacy Project of Eagle County for sharing this stack.

Launched in 1982 in response to the high number of books challenged in libraries, bookstores, and schools, Banned Books Week highlights the value of free and open access to information. This week also unites librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers to support the freedom to seek and express ideas.

By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship. Here are a few examples of titles that have been banned or challenged throughout history.
