Do you know what becomes possible when we Indigenous women and girls are trusted to lead our own journeys?

↗️ New leaders emerge and thrive.
🌐 Stronger networks of support take shape.
🚀 More Indigenous girls and women dare to dream bigger—and follow through.
In the 2025 Annual Report, you’ll find the result of what we are all creating together. Through education, community, and leadership, a new reality is already unfolding.
This is the impact you are part of.

Today, we honor all Nim Mamá, (Great Mothers in Kaqchikel, the Girl Pioneers mother language), women who show their love each day not only through affection, but also through effort, guidance, strength, and wisdom.

🌟 They are the ones who sustain dreams, support each journey, and open pathways for new generations. Through every piece of advice and every act of care, they inspire their daughters and sons to imagine and build new realities for themselves, their families, and their communities.
At MAIA, we celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, caregivers, and maternal figures who transform lives every day through their love and leadership. Thank you for teaching us the value of resilience, community, and hope.

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐

As we continue uplifting and celebrating the voices and leadership of women throughout March, we are grateful to share this powerful interview written by young women from Girl Up Youth Advisory.

In this conversation, Vilma Saloj, our Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships, reflects on what it means to lead as an Indigenous woman in Guatemala and why education must be rooted in dignity, identity, and opportunity.

As a Maya Kaqchikel woman, Vilma shares her own story and the stories of women who inspire her—all connected by a shared mission: to transform the story of Indigenous women and education in Guatemala.

💜 At MAIA, we are an organization led by Indigenous women, for Indigenous girls. We maximize and amplify the transformative power of women to create a society with equity and opportunity.

Today we celebrate — a moment to recognize the richness, history, and identity that live within every language. 💬🌱

At MAIA, we believe that strengthening our mother languages also strengthens our roots, our confidence, and our power to shape a more equitable future. 🌟

📢 87% of MAIA Girl Pioneers come from homes where the primary language is a Maya language, and 85% of our team belongs to the Maya people, with predominance of Kaqchikel, followed by K’iche’ and Tz’utujil. This diversity reflects the linguistic richness within our community.

Let’s continue honoring and passing on our languages, because within them live the memory of our peoples and the future of our communities.

Together, we are a force for change 🙌🏽

Our school year has begun, and we’re excited to introduce the new generation of Girl Pioneers. With your support, we successfully closed our end-of-year campaign, making it possible for this group of inspiring Indigenous girls to take the first step toward transforming their realities by saying yes to quality education and yes to pursuing their dreams.
We are deeply grateful to all our allies and supporters who believe in the transformative power of education. Thank you for being part of this collective force for change. ✨

We celebrate education that creates change and transforms realities! 💫

Today, on the , we highlight our educational model—one where Girl Pioneers are the protagonists of their own learning, and educators create experiences rooted in purpose, identity, and empowerment.
When these practices are shared and built collaboratively, their impact multiplies, strengthening education across Guatemala. 📖✍🏽
