Mentorship Matters

Knowing how to do the job is only part of getting into the film industry.

Knowing someone willing to explain how the industry works can change everything.

That’s why mentorship is such an important part of the Bad Habitz Organization mission.

Veterans entering film may need help understanding set etiquette, departments, call sheets, networking, production terminology, resumes, credits, and how one job can lead to the next.

A mentor can shorten that learning curve.
If you’re an experienced filmmaker, technician, actor, producer, editor, department head, or other industry professional who would like to help veterans learn the business, we want to hear from you.

You can’t tell veterans there are careers in film if nobody gives them a way to learn the jobs.

That’s why the pipeline matters.

Bad Habitz Organization wants veterans to be able to learn, train, work alongside experienced filmmakers, build credits, and develop the connections needed to continue working after one project ends.

Because opportunity shouldn’t stop at “thank you for your service.”

It should include “here’s the next door.”

Veterans already know how to work as a team, solve problems under pressure, follow a mission, adapt quickly, and get the job done.

Those skills belong on film sets too.

Bad Habitz Organization was created to help veterans discover opportunities in the film industry through training, mentorship, hands-on experience, and a supportive environment where military experience is treated as an asset.

We’re not just talking about putting veterans in front of the camera.

We want them learning lighting, sound, production, camera, art department, locations, grip, editing, and the dozens of careers audiences never see when the credits roll.

🎬 I’m excited to share what we’re building with Dealer’s Choice.

Set in a struggling Baton Rouge casino, Dealer’s Choice is a workplace comedy about a dealer and her wonderfully chaotic coworkers who come up with one outrageous plan to save their jobs: stage a fake reality show. Underneath the laughs, it’s a story about loyalty, second chances, and finding family in unexpected places.

Bad Habitz Productions is developing the film. Through Bad Habitz Organization, our nonprofit, we’re also working to create training, mentorship, and film opportunities for veterans. Our goal is for at least 60% of the cast and crew on our productions to be veterans.

As a veteran and filmmaker, this is personal to me. I want to tell a story people enjoy watching while helping other veterans find their place in this industry.
