What an incredible day at Shock the Block!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you again to the squatted truck community for showing up, showing out, and making a difference. Because of your generosity, enthusiasm, and support, we raised over $9,000 for Gray’s Army Foundation!

These funds will stay right here in our communities and help us continue our mission of providing CPR training, youth heart screenings, and placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) where they are needed most.

To those who are quick to judge the squatted truck world, April 25th was another reminder that you can’t judge a community by stereotypes. When we asked for help, they answered. They came together for a cause bigger than themselves and made a real impact that will help save lives.

Thank you to every truck owner, sponsor, volunteer, vendor, participant, and supporter who helped make this event a success. We are grateful for each and every one of you.

Together, we’re creating a community that is prepared to respond when seconds matter.

THE NATIONAL VOICE. PROTECTING YOUTH FROM SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST.

❤️ It’s CPR & AED Awareness Week | June 1–7 ❤️

There is a belief that only medically trained professionals should perform CPR. The truth is, that misconception costs lives.

This CPR & AED Awareness Week, the American Heart Association is reminding everyone that the power to save a life is in your hands.

CPR isn't just a medical skill, it's a shared human responsibility. You need awareness, confidence, and the willingness to act when every second counts.

🏠 About 3 out of 4 cardiac arrests that occur outside of a hospital happen at home, meaning the life you save could be a spouse, parent, child, neighbor, coworker, or friend.

💪 For adults and teens, Hands-Only CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival.

Whether you're at home, at work, in the gym, or cheering from the sidelines at your child's soccer game, cardiac arrest can happen anywhere. That's why parents, caregivers, neighbors, coworkers, and friends are often the “first responders” before the first responders arrive.

This week, take a step toward being prepared:
✔ Find a CPR class near you at http://spr.ly/6189B8Yg3F
✔ Refresh your skills
✔ Share CPR resources with others
✔ Help build a community ready to act

Because heroism isn't reserved for uniforms, it's everyday people stepping up when someone needs them most.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Week | June 1–7 ❤️

Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Week begins tomorrow, and as many of you know, SCA awareness, CPR education, and AED advocacy are causes that are deeply important to us.

This year, however, our focus will be on the recovery of one of our own—our family member, Gray’s Army Foundation board member, and my brother, Mark Bates.

Mark remains intubated and sedated following an industrial accident that resulted in second degree burns and pulmonary edema. We are grateful for the incredible medical team caring for him and for the countless prayers, messages, and acts of support our family has received.

As always, we encourage everyone to learn CPR and become familiar with the location of AEDs where you live, work, learn, and play. Those simple actions can save a life.

During this season, our family and the Gray’s Army Foundation will be stepping back from foundation events and activities as we focus our time and energy on Mark’s recovery and supporting our loved ones.

We appreciate your understanding, continued prayers, and support as we walk this journey together.

Today, we ask our Gray’s Army Foundation family to please lift Grayson’s uncle and Gray’s Army Foundation board member, Mark Bates, in prayer. Mark was seriously injured in an explosion today, resulting in extensive burns, and is currently being transferred to a specialized burn center for treatment.

Please keep his wife, Debra, his son, Caden, and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. At this time, we ask for privacy and understanding as they focus on Mark’s care and recovery.

We believe in the power of prayer and appreciate every prayer lifted on his behalf.

Today, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country. Because of their courage, dedication, and selflessness, we are blessed with the freedoms we enjoy every day.

This Memorial Day, Gray’s Army Foundation remembers and honors our fallen heroes and the families who continue to carry their memory forward. 🇺🇸❤️

We would love to recognize your loved ones today. Please drop a picture, name, or story of a family member or friend who served and lost their life protecting our freedom in the comments below so we can honor their sacrifice with you.

May we never forget those who gave everything for us.

🚨 Life-Saving Devices Should Never Be Blocked 🚨

Fire extinguishers, AEDs, and stop-the-bleed kits are placed for one reason—to save lives when seconds matter.

When these emergency devices are blocked by buggies, equipment, or locked away where they cannot be quickly accessed, it creates unnecessary danger. In an emergency, there is no time to move obstacles, search for keys, or waste precious seconds.

Accessibility saves lives.

Please be mindful of where carts, buggies, and other items are placed. Keep fire extinguishers visible. Keep AEDs accessible. Keep stop-the-bleed kits ready for immediate use.

Preparedness matters. Awareness matters. Lives depend on it.

Today we proudly celebrate a very special member of our Gray’s Army Foundation family—Dr. Sarah Peyton Cagle! 🎓🐾

Peyton is graduating today from Louisiana State University with her degree in Veterinary Medicine, and we could not be more proud of her incredible accomplishment.

For the past 4 1/2 years, Peyton has generously volunteered her time and talents as our website designer, helping Gray’s Army Foundation grow and reach so many families in our community. Her dedication behind the scenes has meant more than words can say.

In June, Peyton will begin her residency at the Louisiana State University Animal Hospital, and we know she will do amazing things in her new career caring for animals and making a difference.

Congratulations, Dr. Peyton! Your Gray’s Army family is so proud of you, and we are cheering you on every step of the way. Your future is so bright! ❤️
