Thank you, Tucker, for your incredible commitment to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge!

This summer, Tucker volunteered throughout our organization, serving in the ReStore, on our build sites, and in our office, where he helped work on our construction manual.

When asked about his experience, Tucker shared:

"My favorite thing about Habitat has been the people. Everyone here has been incredibly kind and welcoming."

There’s nothing like a Habitat Staff Build Day! 🏠💙💚

Team members from our office and both ReStore locations traded their usual workday for a day on the build site, with our Construction team providing the expertise to keep us moving!

Together, we helped bring the LSU Greek Life Build one step closer to the finish line by tackling final paint and shoe mould.

Of course, a good day of teamwork deserved a good lunch! We wrapped things up together at Barracuda. 🌮

We may work in different departments and locations, but days like this are a great reminder that we’re all building toward the same mission.

🏡 Building Community, One Pantry at a Time

A special thank you to St. George Catholic Church and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church for coming together to meet with future homeowner Mia and hear her vision for her new pantry! 💙🔨

This gathering represents so much more than planning a space in a home—it reflects a renewed partnership rooted in service and community.

The partnership between St. George and St. Paul originally began in 1994, when Father Ranzino of St. George and Father Joseph Guidry, SVD, of St. Paul brought the two churches together to provide material assistance and walk alongside families in the St. Paul and Eden Park communities.

We’re grateful to see that spirit of partnership continuing through support of Mia and her journey to homeownership. Thank you to everyone from St. George and St. Paul for listening, serving, and helping make her house feel like home.

Meet the Difference Maker: Pastor Chan Willis

Meet retired Pastor Chan Willis of First Presbyterian Church - Baton Rouge. whose heart for service has led him to volunteer with Habitat affiliates across the Gulf South. His passion for helping others continues right here in Baton Rouge. In fact, Chan celebrated his 70th birthday by spending June 20 on a Habitat build site. We can't think of a better way to celebrate a milestone than by building hope alongside your community.

"I first became involved with Habitat in the 1990s, but after graduating from seminary and becoming an ordained Presbyterian pastor, my commitment grew. As I encouraged others to serve their communities, I knew I needed to lead by example.

I've volunteered with Habitat in Mobile, Covington, Lake Charles, and now Baton Rouge. For me, there's no better way to put faith into action than by helping provide hope and a brighter future through safe, affordable housing.

One of the greatest rewards has been the friendships I've made along the way. I'll never forget working on a roof with another pastor and joking that we were closer to God—both figuratively and literally!

I encourage anyone who wants to make a difference to volunteer with Habitat. It's a compassionate organization that brings people together to change lives. Plus, they even let me use an air-powered nail gun... something my wife would never allow around our house! 😜

I hope to keep serving on Habitat build sites for many years to come, Lord willing."

📦🚚 We're Moving... Just Not Very Far! 🚚📦

Habitat ReStore Southeast is moving to the front of our building into the former Ethan Allen space, and we need your help to make it happen! 💙

Over the next two weeks, we'll be moving furniture, organizing inventory, setting up displays, and getting our new space ready to welcome shoppers. Every helping hand makes a big difference!

🙌 Whether you can volunteer for a couple of hours or an entire shift, we'd love to have you join us.
