A new AED. Neighbors ready to respond. A community coming together.

This past weekend, the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation celebrated the winner of our 2025 Contest with a ribbon-cutting event in Louisville, Kentucky!

Karen’s nomination of the Belknap Neighborhood Association was selected as our contest winner. After her husband, Trey, experienced sudden cardiac arrest, helping others understand the importance of being prepared to respond to a cardiac emergency became especially meaningful. Their winning entry helped bring a SaveStation AED tower and ZOLL AED to their community.

As part of the celebration, SCAF also hosted a Ready to Respond training event, where community members learned hands-only CPR and how to use an AED. It was wonderful to see so many people come together, practice these skills, and take steps toward being better prepared to respond to a cardiac emergency.

Thank you to Karen, the Belknap Neighborhood Association, SaveStation, and ZOLL Public Safety for their partnership in making this possible, and to everyone who participated. Every person who takes the time to learn these skills helps strengthen their community’s readiness to respond.

What a tremendous week of Ready to Respond events across the country...and we're just getting started! ❤️

In workplaces, schools, and community spaces, people came together to practice hands-only CPR, learn how to use an AED, and build the confidence to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

Every person trained is another person who can step forward when help is needed. Every event brings us closer to communities where more people are ready to act.

This the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation is on the go! Gina is coming to you from the airport on her way to Kentucky for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our SaveStation and ZOLL Public Safety AED Contest winners, followed by a Ready to Respond training event.

We are so grateful to all of the Ready to Respond training events that have happened thus far across the country and for everyone who has participated and helped spread awareness of sudden cardiac arrest this month. We are only just getting started! ♥️

Being close to an emergency doesn’t always mean being prepared to respond. ⚽

A survey of 745 players, coaches, referees, and physiotherapists in Cameroon’s professional football community found that only about 1 in 8 felt confident performing CPR or using a defibrillator. Researchers also identified gaps in training, AED access, and awareness of emergency plans.

These findings highlight a need that reaches beyond the playing field: helping people build the skills and confidence to act.

This Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, our Ready to Respond campaign is bringing hands-only CPR and AED education to communities. Whether on the sidelines, at school, or in the workplace, preparedness starts before an emergency.

Help your community become Ready to Respond.

This October, turn Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month into an opportunity to make a difference. Become a H.E.A.R.T. Champion!

H.E.A.R.T. stands for Heroes Empowering Action, Readiness & Training. These volunteers help bring awareness and education to their schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods by sharing resources, encouraging CPR and AED training, and hosting or supporting community events.

You don’t need to be an expert. You just need a desire to help, and you can get involved in ways that fit your interests, skills, and availability.

A conversation you start, or a resource you share, could inspire someone to learn the skills they may one day need to help a loved one.

Join us as a H.E.A.R.T. Champion and help carry the Ready to Respond spirit through October and beyond.

From a winning entry to a more prepared community!

We’re excited to celebrate the winner of our 2025 contest, hosted in partnership with SaveStation and ZOLL, as they prepare to unveil their public AED station in Louisville, KY.

The celebration will continue after the ribbon cutting with a Ready to Respond hands-only CPR and AED training event, helping community members build the skills and confidence to act in an emergency.

This Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, we’re celebrating what partnerships can make possible: greater access to AEDs and more people ready to help when it matters most.

The Ready to Respond training schedule is now live, with 150 events and counting!

This October, during Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month, hosts across the United States and internationally are bringing their communities together to learn hands-only CPR and how to use an AED. Every event brings us closer to our goal of training 20,000 people with the skills and confidence to act in an emergency.

The schedule includes public trainings open to everyone, along with private events hosted for schools, workplaces, teams, and other groups. Explore the list to see where Ready to Respond is happening and find a public event you can join.
