I’m a husband and a father first. Always. It’s my motivation for all that I do. I’ve learned from this cancer journey that I don’t fear dying. What I fear is the place where I am not by their side. My bad days and my best days are both driven by my wife and kids. The thought of you guys saves me at my lows and guides me to my highs. Grateful that I get to celebrate you guys today.

Today, we honor the memory of who passed away after a courageous battle with glioblastoma, five years after her diagnosis. Shenell and I were diagnosed just weeks apart, and she was one of the first people I connected with during that challenging time. We remained in touch over the past five years, until she recently began treatment for a recurrence.

Shenell’s impact on our community will endure through her creation of .cancer - Her website has been a source of inspiration for many, including myself, in building healthy routines and wellness practices.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Malloy family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Shenell’s legacy will continue to thrive through all of us who are still fighting this disease.

On World Brain Tumor Day, we honor the patients, families, and care partners who nave faced globlastoma - the most common, complex, treatment-resistant, and deadliest type of brain cancer. There is no question that the urgent and unmet needs of the GBM community continue to grow.

With such limited progress made in treating these aggressive and complex tumors, we know that the time to act is now.

Thank you to those around the world who are helping to accelerate the rate at which we discover, develop, test, and approve new treatments, while working together to advance a cure.

May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month. We MUST join hands to raise awareness about this often-overlooked disease. Together, we can support those affected and drive research for better treatments!

We kicked off BTAM with our third annual , where we raised over $70,000 and, most importantly, brought hope to those impacted by glioblastoma.

Missed the marathon?? It’s not too late to get involved! Here is how you can currently join us in May to help make a difference for the brain cancer community.

☕️ $4 from every bag of our coffee beans sold will be donated to support the fight against GBM

Thanks to your support, we received nearly 1,000 individual donations from across the globe, raising over $70,000!! Our community’s dedication to raising awareness of glioblastoma is truly inspiring. To all the runners, especially our amazing first-timers, while the sore legs may fade, the impact you’ve made will endure!

Above all, we extend our deepest thanks to the Hart family for entrusting us to honor Jonah and celebrate his life through this event. The 100+ of us hitting the streets of Downtown Pittsburgh in our gear embodied the love we all hold for him. I am certain Jonah was with us on Sunday, and am confident he will continue to be by our side as we spread his magic into the future. 🌟💙💜💚🩷

🚨 update!!

With only 12 days until the marathon we are currently 8th out of over 70 official fundraising teams!

There are no words to express how grateful we are to the 144 registered members on our team working each day to make this such a successful initiative.

For us it’s always been about more than just the money. It’s the message! To have 144 of us out creating discussions about glioblastoma each day is what really makes a difference. Seeing our cause and fight against this brutal disease sitting in the 8th spot surrounded by some HUGE organizations helps bring attention to our battle against brain cancer.

“Friday marked 5 years cancer-free (that’s how we refer to it over here)!

Dana, you rarely let me see it, but just know that I know. None of this has been easy, but the grace and poise with which you’ve approached every single day of this journey have been the strength that keeps driving our family forward. The daily sacrifices you make to allow me to pursue all that I need to battle this disease will forever be appreciated. No matter how many times you recognize that ‘it took a village,’ just know that you are at the center of our village, and we are all blessed to have your love and guidance.

So, to our village: YOU reading this, who have stood with us for the last 5 years. I know without a doubt that without YOU in my life, I would not still be on this journey with glioblastoma. It’s because of your support that I am now a better version of myself than I was before being diagnosed. These last 5 years with YOU by my side have made me a better husband, a better father, a better friend, a better son, and a better person. I now have a better understanding of just how valuable your and my time together is, and I wouldn’t trade that gift for anything in the world.

Just know I’m here because of YOU. I see YOU. I love YOU. I am grateful for YOU.

GBM was never the beginning of my end; it was the beginning of my beginning.

They tell us that less than 5% of those diagnosed with glioblastoma live to see their next 5 years. I am here, and I am more motivated than ever before to play even just a small part in helping change the grim statistics associated with this disease.
