Next Sunday is Forest Bathing in Frick Park! ๐๐ฒ๐ณ๐ป๐ท๐
You are invited to participate in a forest bathing experience led by certified guides from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy.
What is forest bathing? Forest bathing promotes wellness through immersing oneself in the calming and restorative atmosphere of natural environments. The practice originated from the Japanese tradition of shinrin-yoku or โforest bathingโ, which is backed by research to provide an array of physical and mental health benefits. This slow, mindful experience consists of a series of invitations (suggested activities) with time for sharing after each invitation. Sharing is also invitational, and participants are free to craft the experience to support their own needs.
In preparation for the program, please note the following:
- Distance/Terrain: The route is under 1/2 mile on paths with easy to moderate grades.
- This is a slow-paced experience โ not a hike or fitness walk.
- We will be standing, walking, and sitting for different portions of the program.
- Stools are provided for those who wish to use them.
- Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather to be outdoors.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Applying sunscreen and bug repellent is recommended.
