As their AmeriCorps service comes to an end, we're taking a moment to celebrate Kwynsky and Hendrix — the two fellows behind our brand-new Davis Welcome Guide.
During their time at I-House, they poured their time, care, and creativity into building something that will help newcomers feel at home in Davis for years to come. Their impact on the I-House community goes well beyond this one project.

Our I-House quilt is now officially named Community in Color🎨
This beautiful quilt was generously donated by Phyllis McCalla, a former I-House board member, and is now hanging in the I-House Lounge.

After community members shared name ideas and voted, Community in Color was chosen as the winning name. It reflects the spirit of the quilt — different pieces, colors, patterns, and stories coming together to create something beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who submitted ideas, voted, and helped name the newest member of our I-House family 💛

There's something about a room full of strangers turning into friends over portrait drawings and homemade recipes 🌸

That was Hope Café last Thursday. 60 people, one community room, and an evening none of us wanted to end.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: PINAR UNCU BRUMMER 🎨

From Türkiye to Davis, and from Plant Genetics to porcelain, Pinar has built a life and a practice around transformation. Now she runs Pixley Ceramics here in Davis, where her work has shifted toward sculpture, her most direct form of self-expression.

This September, she's bringing that spirit to I-House Davis for Everything You Touch, Touches You, a hands-on, collaborative ceramic experience where you'll shape a piece of a collective tree sculpture and hand-build your own small tea cup. No experience needed, just a willingness to show up, get your hands in the clay, and tap into some childlike joy.
