This page – and group – is dormant. We had a single goal; reopening Davis Public Schools. It was accomplished with your help. Thank you!

There are no plans to reorient the group to other causes. The original moderators & advisors speak only rarely (but remain friends!). The mailing list will be deleted. Functionally, the group no longer really exists.

There are no plans to delete the page. It’s possible there would be some reason to use it in the future, though the probability is low, any such cause would need to be extreme & the moderators/advisors would need to reform.

In closing, we want to thank all of those who took the time to advocate for our children. You were sometimes subject to awful treatment, but stood fast. Thank you again – we hope you’re proud of what you stood for. We are.

With that, we leave you a final link. It may be the closest we’ll get to an acknowledgement of error.

CALL TO ACTION!

We need your support! The CDC and state of CA have both lifted indoor mask mandates at schools. In response, the DJUSD Board of Education will be discussing the issue on Thursday, March 3rd, debating on lifting the local mandate.

If you support following CDC and state guidance, we need you to speak up! A small but vocal group is asking for prolonging the indefinite masking requirement in schools...now is the time for your voice to be heard. There are two ways to make your opinion known:

First:

Email the Board of Education. You can keep it simple; the message doesn't need to be elegant. Simply let the board know that you support optional masking at DJUSD schools. You can even put that simple message in the subject line - it takes less than 5 minutes! There is no need to cite studies or use hyperbole...a simple, polite message is all it takes.

email the board at: [email protected]

Second (and more impact):

Show up and give public comment at the board meeting this Thursday, March 3rd. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Davis Community Chamber, 23 Russell Blvd. You can plan on having two minutes to speak during agenda item VII, "Health and Safety" update (remember that - you'll need to put it on the blue comment card when you arrive in order to be called on). Even if you aren't a great public speaker, your voice is important...simply saying "I support optional masking at Davis schools" is enough! There will be a group of like-minded people there doing the same - you are not alone!

Nobody is calling for a ban on masking...we support families who choose to continue doing so! Rather, the issue is allowing other families to make their own choices.

Please consider supporting the call to follow CDC and state guidance on masking in schools. Email the BoE now, and show up this Thursday!

We're hoping everyone had a great first day back to in-person instruction. Would love to hear the feedback from students -- both in person and distance learning. Please share your constructive comments on our group page. DJUSD Parent Coalition - It's Time to Safely Go Back to School

Let's help make sure testing at school sites goes smoothly. HDT asks for parents to make sure to have a DJUSD Covid waiver complete for their students.

Practicing spitting into a straw at home with your littles could also help expedite the process! Make it a fun game for the whole family.

Family testing at Mondavi Center this weekend is rumored to have extra incentives! Make your appointment today for a safe return to school day April 12! PLEASE SHARE WITH FRIENDS

Give a like and share if you will join this pledge:

"Preservation of the safety of in-person learning will not primarily be teachers’ responsibility but depends on the decisions each of us make. To that end, let’s rally around our schools, children and teachers and pledge:

* I pledge to get vaccinated as soon as I am eligible and able to score an appointment.
* I pledge to at the very least biweekly, better once or twice weekly, testing for my entire household.
* I pledge to keep masking diligently and practice wearing a well-fitted mask with my child(ren) outside of school, to the extent of my child(ren)’s ability.
* I pledge to respond truthfully to symptom questionnaires and keep my child(ren) home when they have any symptoms or COVID contacts.
* I pledge to continue to adhere to all CDC recommended precautions.
* I pledge to help those whose unique circumstances make adherence to these pledges a true hardship."

Thank you Dr. Erika Roshanravan

DJUSD has proposed a plan to reopen in Phase 4 for in person learning, 5 days a week. We applaud this well-planned response to local health conditions.

Low community spread and strong mitigation compliance makes this the right time to safely return DJUSD students to classrooms!

Together, we can safely return our teachers and children to classrooms. Our Public Health experts support it. Our futures depend on it.

On March 16th, Yolo County entered the CDC's 'Yellow Level' case rate for schools, which recommend that schools be open for full, in-person traditional education (with mitigation protocols).

Visit our website to discover what other public health experts recommend in regard to schools, and to learn how Davis schools have fallen so far behind in reopening.

Together, we can safely return our teachers and children to classrooms. Our Public Health experts support it. Our futures depend on it.

Please share these resources with family and friends. So thankful to see the district outreach to support the mental health of our students. 💙
