About Us
Challah for Hunger is an international organization that brings people together to bake and sell challah, traditional Jewish braided bread, in an effort to raise money and awareness for the issue of food insecurity.
Our UC Davis chapter is constantly experimenting with creative flavors like Oreo cheesecake, cheesy breadstick, blueberry muffin, cinnamon sugar, garlic pizza--the possibilities are endless! We donate 47.5% of our profits to Yolo Food Bank and 47.5% to MAZON, a non-profit that fights hunger both in Israel and the US. The remaining 5% goes toward expanding and improving Challah for Hunger chapters around the world.
For many of our volunteers and customers, Challah for Hunger provides opportunities to be involved in a fun and dedicated community, to address humanitarian problems, to develop and practice new skills like baking and marketing, to gain business and leadership experience, and to become involved in advocacy for a worthy cause.
Volunteer with us Wednesdays 10:15am-12:00pm and Thursdays 10:15am-1:00pm at the Hillel House (328 A St. Davis, CA). And check out our website for more information! www.davischallahforhunger.weebly.com
