I have a question. With local newspapers diminishing, wondering where do you choose to post obituaries. Full disclosure, my brother-in-law, a long time amateur genealogist passed recently. He is not a member of Ancestry. com and there are no regional newspapers in the areas where he previously lived. FindAGrave comes to mined. I would like to hear your ideas.

Our Harvest Festival and Annual Meeting, held last Tuesday, was a warm and lively gathering. Members came together for a delicious potluck, updates on the past year, and participated in our annual elections. The afternoon was spent sharing stories of our inherited textiles and was filled with camaraderie, good food, and a shared sense of community. See you all next year!

One of my Daily family cousins shared this on our family page. She indicated she had watched a short video that looked at who might have been the earliest born person to be photographed. They had several candidates born in the 1740’s and 1750’s. It made her wonder who might be the earliest born person to be photographed in our line. She had a number who were born in the early 19th century and one who was born in 1797. But the earliest was our own Sarah Gates Daily born in 1787. She was born two years before the French Revolution and 11 years after the American Revolution. George Washington presided over the Constitutional Convention. Mozart composed some of his best known works that year. She could have as a child have known elderly people who were born in the 17th century.
Does anyone else have an earlier born ancestor who was photographed? Would be fun to hear from our members. Anyone? I’ll include the link to the video in the comments.

This is a remarkable story that aired on 60 Minutes with Leslie Stahl last week about Fred Miller, who reluctantly purchased a house in Virginia called Sharswood. They intended to use the house for large family gatherings, but he and his family ended up learning something astonishing about this property that they'd walked past everyday on their way to school while growing up!

An Air Force veteran wanted a new house for large family gatherings; he ended up getting an incredible link to his family's past.
