Yolo County SPCA The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or YCSCPA, was founded in 1974 by a small group of dedicated people committed to improving the lives of animals in the area. Through the years, we have grown and expanded our programs to help better serve the animals, and people, of Yolo County. Through adoption events, public education and outreach, and active promotion of the benefits of spaying and neutering, Yolo County SPCA strives to provide a better future for the people and pets in our community.

It’s going to be a beautiful weekend and we have your plans covered for Saturday!

Join us at the Farm City Fall Harvest Festival in Downtown Woodland this Saturday, October 17th. We’ll be there from 12-4pm with some adoptable pups and information about our foster and adoption programs.

Diego and Cowboy are a dynamic duo who would love to be adopted together 💜

Diego (Shih Tzu/Maltese) and Cowboy (French Bulldog) are about 3 years old and are brothers from another mother (and father). They were surrendered together after their previous owner could no longer care for them and they have a special bond. Diego is shy and introverted, while Cowboy is a confident extrovert. Their personalities perfectly complement each other and Diego gains confident from his buddy’s brave and outgoing personality.

These cuties bond strongly with their people and have done well living with other dogs, cats, chickens, goats, and horses. They could live with older kids and could make wonderful companions for a recently retired person or couple who needs some extra love in their life.

Both boys are still working on their house-training. They need a house with a yard and would do best with someone who doesn’t have to leave them for long for often.

Diego has the type of fur that requires regular grooming and Cowboy is at risk for lots of medical issues being a Frenchie. Their new family will need to be able to take on those extra costs.

Look at adoptable Frankie and Grace be such brave girls 😍

An important part of raising puppies is exposing them to all of the everyday life things that they will encounter. Helping them learn now that things aren’t scary, help them grow up to be confident, well-rounded pups. Frankie and Grace’s foster parents are puppy raising pros at this point and they do an amazing job preparing their foster puppies for life in their fur-ever homes.

These girls have been raised with other dogs and could do great in homes with dog-savvy cats or older kids with a proper introduction and supervision. Their mom is an English Bulldog mix and we think there also is some Staffordshire Terrier or American Bully in their mix.

Frankie (brown and white) and Grace (black and weight), weigh about 12lbs and we estimate that they will be around 40-50lbs when fully grown.

With his golden eyes and happy personality, Chip is simply irresistible 🩷

Chip is estimated to be around 6 months old, and he is an affectionate and fun little guy. He is the perfect mix of active and chill - he loves his daily walks and zoomies around the house, but is also a big cuddler who will never turn down some quality time with his favorite people.

Chip loves other dogs, but has been doing well living as an only dog in his foster home. We haven’t seen him around cats or kids, but he may do well living with dog-savvy cats and older kids.

Our best guess is that he is a chihuahua mix and we think he is pretty much fully grown at 7lbs. He has been doing well being left for short periods and living in an apartment.

Fun, bubbly, and oh-so cute, what’s not to love about JJ?

JJ is estimated to be 8 months old, and he is a true extrovert who wants to be friends with everyone he meets. He loves to go on his daily walks and play with his toys, but he also appreciates a good afternoon nap and cuddles on the couch to settle at night. He would thrive with a semi-active family who wants a buddy to take along for whatever the day brings.

JJ weighs about 9lbs and our best guess is that he is a chihuahua mix. Although, his soft, dense coat and curled over tail make us think there might be some Pomeranian in his mix, too. He is house and crate trained, but is still a puppy, so he needs continued training to help him learn good boundaries (aka what is appropriate to chew on).

JJ loves other dogs, but has been doing well living as an only dog. He has also done well living with dog-savvy cats and older kids. He makes a great fit for apartment life as he is a pretty quiet guy.

We're back for everyone's favorite day of the week - Where Are They Now Wednesday!

Today, we're celebrating another one of our National Park puppies, Hella (previously Haleakala)! Hella was the smallest in her litter, and she won her family over with her big heart and a sweet personality. She has been growing like a w**d and has been an A+ student in her puppy classes. She remains the sweetest girl, and we couldn't be happier for her and her family!

For anyone interested, one of the puppies was DNA tested, and the results came back as 52.3% American Bully, 17.4% American Pit Bull Terrier, 3.8% Rottweiler, 3.8% Doberman Pinscher, and 22.7% Supermutt.

Puppies Frankie and Grace are adorable with a capital “A”!

These 3-month-old cuties are the perfect mix of cuddly and playful and have won our hearts with the sweet personalities. Frankie (brown and white) is an affectionate and sassy girl and Grace (black and white) is curious and eager to please.

Frankie and Grace’s mom is an English bulldog mix and we think that they have American bully or Staffordshire Terrier in their mix as well. They’re about 12lbs now and we think they’ll be around 40-50lbs when fully grown.

These girls would thrive in moderately active homes with another dog to mentor them. They could live with dog-savvy cats and kids 7 years and older. They’re still learning all of their basic manners, so they will need families committed to continuing their training and socialization.

18 lucky pups and kitties found their fur-ever homes in September ❤

Double the fur, double the fun — meet bonded sisters Allie & Amber! 👯💕

These two girls came into foster still pretty timid, but give them the run of the house and watch them bloom! They’re not nearly as shy these days (though Amber still warms up a little slower 🥰), and now they follow their foster mom from room to room, all day long.

Allie is a total lap cat — grey, cream and white with the cutest white socks and grey-spotted belly. She wants to be wherever you are: held, petted, snuggled - you name it!

Amber has a wild-cat look with her brown and black tabby markings, but a total softie underneath. She loves being near you and touching you (just maybe not fully on your lap), and she will flip right over for belly rubs. Being held isn’t really her thing — she’s more of a “close but not too close” kind of girl.

Turns out both girls just needed time to learn how to be kittens! Now they’re playing nonstop, chasing track toys, and proudly carrying their favorite toys around in their mouths 🧸

Allie and Amber are bonded and must be adopted together. They do great with cats, gentle dogs, and kids, and would thrive in a home with moderate activity where they can keep exploring (and showing off) side by side. 💛
