The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or YCSCPA, was founded in 1974 by a small group of dedicated people committed to improving the lives of animals in the area. Through the years, we have grown and expanded our programs to help better serve the animals, and people, of Yolo County. Through adoption events, public education and outreach, and active promotion of the bene

fits of spaying and neutering, Yolo County SPCA strives to provide a better future for the people and pets in our community.

Does your playful pooch need a new BFF? Look no further!

1-year-old Audrey is on the lookout for a family who has another playful pup for her to become sisters with. She adores playing with the younger dog in her foster home and the two have become two peas in a pod.

Audrey is the perfect mix of puppy energy and lap dog, who would be a great companion from someone who wants a cuddle buddy while they work from home. She loves her daily walks and is a big fan of playtime.

Audrey weighs about 9lbs and our best guess is that she is a chihuahua/terrier mix. She needs a kitty-free home, but has done great living with older kids. Audrey is housetrained using a doggie door and is content being left home for short periods at a time.

If Audrey sounds like the fun-loving sister your dog needs in their life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

We are back with another Where Are They Now Wednesday!

Today, we're celebrating Gnocchi (previously named Denali)! Gnocchi was part of our National Parks Litter that we rescued earlier this year. We saved their mom and all 7 puppies from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter. Gnocchi was the first of the litter to be adopted, as she won the heart of her foster mom's co-worker. She has been growing like a w**d in her fur-ever home and has become quite the waterdog! She loves her doggie brother and has seamlessly become a beloved member of the family. Yay for Gnocchi!

Stay tuned, because we have updates from lots of her siblings coming soon ❤

To support the rescue of dogs just like Gnocchi, donate on our website, yolospca.org/donate. We are also always looking for new foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can become a Yolo County SPCA dog foster.

Open your heart (and your home) without the long-term commitment 🐶❤️

Fostering saves lives—it gives rescue dogs a quiet space to decompress, learn basic manners, and show their true personalities while waiting for their forever families. Every dog placed in a YCSPCA foster home opens up a kennel at the shelter, allowing another animal to be saved.

Why become a foster parent?

✨Zero Cost: We provide the food, supplies, and cover all medical expenses.

✨Flexible Commitment: Care for a pup for two weeks or two months—whatever fits your schedule.

✨Pure Joy: Experience all the unconditional love and tail wags without a 15-year commitment.

Whether you have a full house or live in an apartment, there is a foster dog waiting for a home just like yours.

Ready to make a difference? Head to our website, yolospca.org/volunteerfoster, or email us at [email protected] to learn more. You can also find our foster home application here: jotform.com/62177376663162.

Who’s black and white and absolutely adorable? Audrey!

Audrey is about a year old and she is a fun and lovable girl looking for her fur-ever home 🩷 She is a moderate-energy pup who loves her walks and playtime, but will never turn down some cuddles. She is the perfect size to curl up on your lap while you work from home, weighing in at only 9lbs.

Audrey loves other dogs and has become BFFs with the other young dog in her foster home. She has a more dominant personality and does best with easygoing dogs who will respect her need to be the center of attention. Audrey has done great with older kids, but needs a kitty-free home.

Our best guess is that Audrey is a chihuahua mix, probably with some sort of terrier mixed in there, too. She has been doing great with her housetraining using a dog door and is very food-motivated and smart.

If Audrey sounds like the petite companion you need in your life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

Meet Dean & Garrett, the trusty dusty tuxedo twins! 🤵🖤🤍

Dean is a sweet, friendly, outgoing kitty who begins purring the moment he sees you — basically a tiny black-and-white motorboat in kitten form. He loves being held (preferably on his back like a baby), petted, snuggled, and admired. It’s difficult for his foster family to get work done as he is so cute and fun to be around 😸

Dean is also a world-class kitten athlete. His main sport is wrestling and playing with his brother Garrett with additional events like chase, tumble, sneak attack, dramatic bunny kicks, and synchronized zoomies. Dean and Garrett believe that anytime is a good time to play 😼

Dean’s eye was surgically removed after suffering a serious eye infection when he was a little kitten. However, he most certainly has not received this memo as a limitation. He is active, confident, playful, joyful, and entirely convinced that life is meant to be tackled at full kitten speed 🤭

With his adorable long white whiskers, Garrett is the kind of kitten who makes it very hard to get anything done because he is too busy being cute. And funny. And sweet. He is adorable, social, affectionate, and a non-stop purr machine. Pick him up? Purr. Pet him? Purr. Look in his general direction? Also purr 🥰

Garrett loves people, snuggles, playtime, and most of all, his brother Dean. These two tuxedo boys make the most handsome pair of tiny gentlemen in formalwear. They chase, tumble, wrestle, pounce, and bunny-kick their way through the day, then recharge for their next round of brotherly chaos 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

Dean and Garrett are brothers, best friends, sparring partners, and co-conspirators. These two would be thrilled to be adopted together to continue making mischief but could also be adopted separately to homes with other cats 🐾
