PRESS RELEASE: CITY SURVEY EXPLORES DAVIS’ ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IDENTITY AND OPPORTUNITIES
Sept. 22, 2026 — The City of Davis is inviting the community, businesses, developers and others with an interest in Davis to share their perspectives as the City begins developing an economic development brand and marketing strategy.
An online survey, available through October 31, asks participants how they view Davis today, what they see as strengths and challenges and what they would like Davis to be known for 10 years from now. The City is seeking perspectives from residents, students, businesses, commercial property owners, developers, investors, funders and others who live, work, visit or have an interest in Davis.
“We want to start by listening,” said City Manager Daryel Dunston. “Before we decide how to market Davis, we need to understand how people see us today — what they value, what they think sets Davis apart and where they believe there are challenges or opportunities. We want to hear the positive and the critical so that the story we ultimately tell is credible and grounded in people’s actual experiences.”
The survey is one of the first steps in a broader process that will also include stakeholder interviews, listening sessions and other research. The City will use what it learns to identify key themes and opportunities, define Davis’ economic development brand and determine how to position the community for the future. Later phases will focus on priority audiences, messages and marketing approaches that support and bring that brand to life.
The survey takes a few minutes to complete and will be open until 4 p.m. on October 31 at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/DavisBrandSurvey.
