🐾 Meet Rudi — a retired conservation canine who spent 8 years helping protect Zambia’s wildlife.

Save Giraffes Now proudly supports veterinary and K9 teams, helping protect the rare Thornicroft’s giraffe found only in Zambia. 🦒

Rudi, who was in the K9 team, worked tirelessly detecting illegal wildlife products and protecting endangered animals — even after developing a condition affecting his hind legs.

Now retired this sweet senior boy spends his days enjoying long walks, curling up in his bed, chewing on his favorite plastic bones, and greeting new visitors with an enthusiastic bark.

While Rudi enjoys his well-deserved retirement, Save Giraffes Now is supporting by paying for his food and medicine.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Mike Parkei after we shared his story last week. Your generosity means so much but we still urgently need more help.

Mike dedicated his life to saving wildlife in Kenya. When rising floods threatened the last remaining herd of Rothschild’s giraffes at Ruko Conservancy, he worked alongside local communities to help save them.
Now Mike is fighting for his own life. He is suffering from chronic kidney failure and urgently needs treatment.

Please help us stand beside Mike the way he stood beside wildlife when they needed him most. 🦒❤️

A few weeks ago, we shared that our Kenya team member, Aggrey, had been visiting the USA. The first stop for Aggrey, and Head Veterinarian Dr Liza ()was a visit to the amazing in Minot, North Dakota 🦒

Roosevelt Park Zoo have worked with Save Giraffes Now on incredible projects including the drilling of a borehole on Swara Plains Conservancy that improves water accessibility for wildlife, people and livestock.

A huge thank you to the wonderful team for the warm welcome and for sharing your passion and commitment to wildlife conservation. Partnerships and collaboration like this are so important to us as we work together to create a future where giraffes and all wildlife can thrive.

Here are a few moments from their visit 💚

Mike, a key member of the Ruko Translocation team, needs our help.

When rising waters threatened the last remaining herd of Rothschild’s giraffes at Ruko Conservancy in Kenya, Mike Parkei stood on the front lines of their rescue. Day after day, he worked alongside local communities and conservation partners to carefully guide giraffes across waters to safety.

He helped save them and worked tirelessly to protect them.

Now, Mike is fighting for his own life.

After years dedicated to protecting wildlife, Mike is suffering from chronic kidney failure and urgently needs life-saving treatment. The man who gave everything for giraffes now needs our help. Ami Vitale, Vital Impacts and Save Giraffes Now are working together to try and raise urgent funds.

Please help us stand beside Mike and his family during this incredibly difficult time. ❤️🦒 Donation link below:

Today is World Endangered Species Day.

Giraffes are among the world’s most iconic animals, yet many people are surprised to learn that several giraffe species are endangered or critically endangered in the wild.

Across Africa, giraffes face growing threats including habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict.

Today is a reminder that protecting wildlife matters.

We love receiving updates from our partners at the in northern Kenya. 🦒

These may not be the clearest photos, but they are incredibly exciting sightings from the desert. In April, while travelling en route to a meeting, six giraffes were spotted — including a tiny baby giraffe alongside three others. Later in the month, scouts recorded a further 18 giraffes across different areas of the desert.
