“God gave me another chance, and I don’t take it lightly.”

Before I lost it… I LOVED my hair. 🩷

Long hair. Natural hair. Braids. Curls. I could switch it up whenever I wanted—and I did!

I was proud of my hair. I had spent YEARS with my hairstylist nurturing it, growing it and getting it healthy.

Looking back at these pictures and videos now hits differently.
Because the woman you're watching had no idea what was coming.
I didn't know breast cancer was about to become part of my story.
I didn't know there would come a day when I could run my fingers through this hair and come away holding clumps of it.

I didn't know my husband would eventually have to shave the rest of it off.
But I'm starting here because sometimes when we tell breast cancer stories, we begin with the bald head, the treatment or the pink ribbon.

But there was a woman BEFORE the diagnosis.

She was a wife.
A mother.
A daughter.
A caregiver.
An entrepreneur.
She had plans. Responsibilities. Dreams.
And Suga… she had some HAIR! 😂

Over the next few weeks, I'm going to take you through pieces of what happened next.

Not the whole story. 😉

Some things you'll have to wait for the book to read. 📖
But I'll share enough to remind another woman that behind every diagnosis is a PERSON with an entire life that existed before cancer entered the room.

And one thing I know today:
My hair was part of me.
It was never the SOURCE of me.

🎀 — DAY 1 | MORE THAN PINK
Before the blonde hair… there was THIS Donna. 🩷

October 1 officially begins Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and I've decided to do something a little different this year.

I'm taking you back through my journey.
In November 2022, I was diagnosed with Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.

There was chemotherapy. Hair loss. Treatment. Radiation. Hard days. And plenty of moments that tested my faith and strength.

But there was also laughter. Family. Love. Business. Purpose—and a whole lot of DONNA. 😂

Cancer took my hair for a season.
It did NOT take ME.

I still put on my earrings. I still got dressed. I still showed up. I still traveled. I still worked. I still laughed.
And eventually, I rang that bell. 🔔🩷

Throughout October, I'm opening the photo vault and sharing moments from my journey—from the hair I had before cancer, to losing it, to bald Donna, treatment Donna, radiation Donna…and eventually, y'all are getting BLONDE DONNA. 😂🔥

But this month is about much more than my hair. It's about awareness, education, survivorship, community and ACTION.

Today, I am blessed to take what I survived and pour it into the mission of The Doing Far More Foundation.

💗 MENOPAUSE MONDAY | GRIEF + MENOPAUSE

Grief has me crying.
Menopause has me crying.
At this point, I don't know WHOSE TEARS THESE ARE. 😭😂

But here's what I do know:
I'm not going to apologize for feeling.
Some days I'm strong.
Some days I'm emotional.
Some days I'm both before breakfast.

Grief + Menopause.
That's a conversation we don't have nearly enough.
So we're having it here.
If you're navigating both at the same time, give yourself some grace. Your heart is processing loss while your body is navigating change.
