Sad news out of Goliad County.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sgt Michael Krucenski of the Goliad County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt Krucenski was found deceased this morning. He appears to have passed from natural causes while conducting physical fitness training on the indoor track at GHS.

Michael was a dedicated public servant who put the safety and security of the students and staff at Goliad ISD as his top priority. He was loved and admired for his gracious personality, sense of humor, and dedication to duty.

We will miss Michael being part of our GCSO family and offer our condolences to Michael’s family, as well as the staff and students at GISD.

Sgt Michael Krucenski will be missed but not forgotten.

His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ Matthew 25:21

Tonight, our hearts are heavy as we learn of the tragic loss of a student following a school bus crash in Sanger.

On behalf of the Texas Association of School Resource Officers (TASRO), we extend our deepest condolences to the student’s family, friends, classmates, teachers, administrators, and the entire Sanger ISD community. No family should ever have to receive the news that their child will not be coming home, and no school community should have to experience such heartbreaking loss.

Our thoughts and prayers are also with the students who were on that bus, their families, the Sanger ISD staff, and the first responders who responded to this devastating incident.

Fellow officers,

As we begin another school year, I want to take a moment to personally thank each of you for the commitment, courage, and dedication you bring to our schools every single day.

You are more than a uniform in the hallway. You are a protector, a mentor, a trusted resource, and often a reassuring presence for students, teachers, and families. Your job requires you to be prepared for the unexpected while building relationships that help make our schools safer and stronger.

As you walk through those school doors this year, know that your service matters. The relationships you build, the conversations you have, and the decisions you make can have a lasting impact on the lives of the students and staff you serve.

My sincere hope is that each of you has a safe, successful, and rewarding school year. Stay alert, look out for one another, take care of yourselves and your fellow officers, and never forget the tremendous difference you make in your schools and communities.

Thank you for answering the call to serve. Thank you for standing in the gap. Most importantly, thank you for being there when our schools need you most.

Be safe. Stay strong. Lead with purpose. And come home safely every day.
