🚨🚨We would just like to remind the public that this week, there will be a heavy police presence around our building as we are hosting the Cumberland Police Department's annual Youth Police Camp.

We are grateful for this partnership and always look forward to this week! 🚨🚨

School may pause for summer, but learning doesn’t have to. Summer doesn’t need to be a season where kids fall behind. ☀️📉

At The Salvation Army, we want summer to be a season where your children leap forward. And we are committed to this statement!

From Summer Sleepaway Camps for a week-long immersive experience that encourages independence and lasting memories, to youth programs and summer music conservatories, The Salvation Army gives children and teenagers a place to learn, play, explore, and stay rooted in community.

We help young minds stay bright.✨

🚨🚔WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO🚨🚔

School is out, and that means Police Camp is here!

If you are planning a visit to our office for any reason next week (June 15th-June 19th), please be aware that there will be a heavy police presence. You may also notice apparatuses other than police cruisers at various times during the week. We never REALLY know what is going to happen! 😉

Don't worry though! It is Police Camp week, and we are always so excited to partner with the Cumberland Police Department to host this weeklong adventure for middle schoolers in Allegany County!

We'll be closed on Friday, June 19th so that we can join the Police Department in celebrating the campers' accomplishments.

There’s something admirable about the World Cup ⚽. How is it that one game has the power to bring thousands of people together, cheering with one voice? 📣 Giving creates the same sense of unity, as one act of kindness impacts an entire community and lifts up neighbors in need, regardless of their language or background. That’s something worth cheering! You can support the mission in our community and give in the way that feels right to you. This season, join the team that gives with joy and let your generosity turn it into something that brings real transformation in the lives of our neighbors. https://www.salvationarmyusa.org/usa-southern-territory/potomac/

🍩❤️ Happy National Donut Day! ❤️🍩

Today, The Salvation Army of Cumberland proudly celebrates National Donut Day, a tradition that honors the courageous "Donut Lassies" who served soldiers on the front lines during World War I, offering not only fresh donuts but also comfort, encouragement, and hope.

As we remember their legacy of service, we also want to take a moment to recognize and thank the everyday heroes in our own community who continue to serve others with dedication and compassion.

A special thank you to the Cumberland Police Department, our local Fire Department, and our Emergency Management teams—including our 911 Dispatchers and EMS personnel. Your commitment to protecting, serving, and caring for our community does not go unnoticed. We are grateful for the sacrifices you make and the countless ways you support our neighbors every day.

It was our privilege to share a small token of appreciation with you today. Just as the Donut Lassies served with hearts full of compassion, we are thankful for those who continue that spirit of service in Cumberland.

Thank you for all you do. We are blessed to have you as partners in serving our community. 💙🚔🚒🚑🍩

🍩 The Salvation Army Lassies stepped onto the front lines of WWI with one mission: bring comfort where it was most needed.

A warm donut became a reminder that someone cared, and that one act of love has rippled through generations.

Today, hundreds of families across our community find comfort, support, and hope through The Salvation Army.

🍩National Donut Day celebrates kindness that still changes lives.

“Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
1 Corinthians 13:7

At The Salvation Army, we live that out every day, serving families in crisis, feeding neighbors who are hungry, and offering hope to anyone who needs a place to rest and rebuild.

Because love isn’t just something we feel, it’s something we do… together.
