The Western Maryland Jaycees presented Fort Hill Principal Candy Canan and Sentinelette Advisor Carol Ketterman along with a few Sentinelette members, a check for $1,100 for their work helping set up for the "Lights by the Mountainside" event at the Allegany County Fairgrounds.

Thank you Western Maryland Jaycees for your commitment to the community and GREAT job Sentinelettes on giving back to the community in a meaningful way.

We are so proud to celebrate WMD Jaycees member Karen Wells for representing our community on a national stage! 🎺🌹

Karen performed with the Potomac Brass and Divisional Creative Arts Ensemble as part of The Salvation Army’s band in the 137th Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1, continuing a remarkable 106 year tradition as the parade’s longest running consecutive marching band.

Karen, we are inspired by your dedication, your talent, and the heart you bring to everything you do!

Did you know? Every month, the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce partners with a Chamber member to host Chamber After Hours, a social networking event.

This month, the event was hosted by Allegany College of Maryland at the Western Maryland Works facility. Event attendees were able to tour the facility, win some goodies, and network with other businesses and nonprofits.

The Western Maryland Jaycees, a Junior Chamber International (JCI) organization, are able to attend these events as part of their membership. It's always a great time catching up with current members, past members, and future members!

All young professionals between the ages of 21-40 are welcome and encouraged to join! Our next monthly meeting is Tuesday, February 10th beginning at 6:30pm at the LaVale Library.

***Individuals and organizations are both welcome. Organizations will have the opportunity to earn a donation!

🎁 This past weekend we had our Annual Christmas Shopping Tour! We were excited to have been able to shop for 24 children ages 8-18. There was even a special visitor to help make the season, well, green!

🎅🏼 We want to give a big Thank You to everyone who donated to help make this happen and to the Potomac Highlands United Way for helping supply each child with a bag full of personal hygiene items!

❄️Given the snowy forecast for tonight, both at the ranch in Bedford County, PA and in Allegany County, MD, we have opted to leave baby Sunny and Obsession the alpacas at home warm in the barn this evening.❄️

Instead, we have a close relative of the alpacas, Luigi the llama (both alpacas and llamas belonging to the camelid family), who is incredibly friendly and loves treats/snuggles.❤️🦙
