Comprehensive Community Action Program, Inc.

Comprehensive Community Action Program, Inc. CCAP is one of Rhode Island’s largest organizations dedicated solely to fighting the war on poverty.

Our professional staff provides a wide spectrum of services designed to help those in immediate need and empower anyone desiring to become independent. In 1964, President Johnson declared a “War on Poverty” by creating the Economic Opportunity Act. This act created Community Action Agencies who were charged with a mission to mobilize all resources toward the elimination of poverty and provide help

to those in need. In December of 1965, Cranston Community Action Program was incorporated. At that time CCAP served Cranston, Coventry, Scituate and Foster. As many of our programs grew to include cities and towns outside that catchment area, we decided to change our name. In September of 1994 we officially became Comprehensive Community Action, but still CCAP. CCAP's Family Health Services does not deny access to services due to an inability to pay and offers a sliding fee scale based on family size and income. Los Servicios de Salud Familiar de CCAP no niegan el acceso a los servicios debido a la incapacidad de pagar y ofrecen una escala de tarifas ajustable basada en el tamaño de la familia y los ingresos.

Regular operations will resume on Tuesday. Enjoy the long weekend, and stay safe! 🌟

We’re incredibly grateful to Comprehensive Community Action Program, Inc. (CCAP) for providing us with two naloxone boxes.

These resources are an important step in helping keep our community safe and prepared to respond in the event of an overdose.

Access to naloxone saves lives, and we appreciate CCAP’s continued commitment to harm reduction and community support. Thank you for helping us make a difference!

Last month, CCAP proudly celebrated the completion of a custom sculpture created by participants in our Learn To Earn Welding for Sculpture Program! After weeks of designing and fabricating, participants brought to life a piece that reflects CCAP’s mission and deep commitment to community.

The sculpture was gifted to CCAP and is now on display in the lobby of our main administration building. It was officially unveiled during a special ceremony with participants, their families, and CCAP staff and leadership.

This project highlights the creativity, technical skill, and dedication of the participants, and we’re proud to share and celebrate their work with our community! 💛
