Our longstanding partnership with Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development brings intensive professional learning directly to our teaching teams that deepens our understanding of children’s emotional lives, which shapes the care your child experiences each day.

We’re grateful to Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency for supporting this work. We believe this sustained commitment to learning is part of what sets Learning Grove apart. Our tireless pursuit of quality starts with a simple belief: your child deserves to be deeply understood. We will never stop learning what it takes to give them that kind of care.

Thank you to Covington Business Council and Foundation for inviting Learning Grove CEO Shannon Starkey-Taylor to join Pro Bono Partnership of Ohio President Erin Childs and talk about all things board-related.

We invest in strong board leadership because our families deserve an organization they can count on, and we’re glad to share what we’ve learned to help other nonprofits strengthen their own work!

Fall gives children so much to wonder about, and our teachers follow that curiosity!

We build and adjust lesson plans in real time around what catches children’s attention and what’s happening around them. Young children in Learning Grove classrooms make sense of their world through hands-on discoveries.

A strong start for a child takes a community willing to invest in it.

This October, Learning Grove celebrates Head Start Awareness Month and two local partners who help make that promise: Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency and Northern Kentucky Community Action Commission.

Together, we connect young children and their families with early learning, health services and meaningful support. In our Early Head Start classrooms, that work begins with our youngest learners, during the infant and toddler years.

We are grateful for our partners’ dedication to children on both sides of the river. Every child deserves people who see their potential and work together to nurture it.

Another big thank you to Educate NKY for their visionary leadership and impactful investments to elevate education in our community!

Newport and Southgate independent school districts are offering all-day, year-round services for preschoolers, with funding from EducateNKY.

This week, Learning Grove Chief Program Officer Patti Gleason joined leaders from Cincinnati-Hamilton County Community Action Agency and Ohio Head Start Association, Inc. at the National Head Start Association 2026 Fall Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C. There, they joined more than 650 Head Start leaders and stakeholders to take a deep dive into policy, funding, workforce and advocacy.

Our Ohio partners were able to meet with Rep. Greg Landsman, Congressman Warren Davidson, Senator Bernie Moreno and Senator Jon Husted to directly share critical information on the importance of preserving the quality standards built by Early Head Start and Head Start.

Learning Grove will always speak up for what young children deserve: high-quality early learning experiences and a commitment to protect the standards that make them possible.

After reading Boxitects by Kim Smith, one of our PreK classes became curious about creating with boxes. Their teachers did not rush them toward a preplanned result. The children had time to share ideas, listen to one another and decide what they wanted to build. Over three days, they imagined a treehouse and a castle, then worked together to bring their ideas to life.

Along the way, they practiced communication, collaboration, problem-solving and creative thinking. Their teachers provided materials, helped with larger cuts and asked thoughtful questions, but the ideas and direction belonged to the children.

This is constructivism in action. Our skilled teachers do not simply deliver activities. They listen, observe and build meaningful learning experiences around children’s questions, interests and discoveries.
