𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 & 𝐕𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬
Comfort House Child Advocacy Center serves children who are victims of sexual abuse across Harrison, Floyd, and Clark counties, providing a safe, neutral space for forensic interviews, coordinating with law enforcement and child protective services, and supporting families through one of the most difficult experiences imaginable.
Our mission is simple and urgent: to serve victims of child sexual abuse through coordinated intervention, and to end the cycle of abuse through education.
We are growing, and our board is growing with us. We are actively seeking engaged community members who want to make a real difference for the most vulnerable children in our region.
We are especially looking for people with backgrounds in:
- Accounting or finance
- Law
- Marketing, web design or communications
- Fundraising or nonprofit development
We are also welcoming volunteers who want to contribute to our fundraising and awareness committees without joining the board full-time.

We are proud of this class, and grateful to the Chamber of Commerce of Harrison County, all of you who contributed, and everyone who came out today to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the class project!

✂️ Today, we celebrated the completion of our Leadership Harrison County Class of 2026 project with a ribbon cutting at Hayswood Possibilities Playground!

Thanks to the generosity of our community, communication boards are now installed at all five Harrison County Parks:

🌳 South Harrison Park

Most years, we have to say "see you soon" to a director or two as they rotate off our board. We are grateful to Michelle Lowe Dayvault for her faithful and skilled service. (And we're happy to be adding three new directors from the Class of 2026!)

One of the greatest things about Leadership Harrison County is seeing community members come together to create projects that make a real and lasting impact.

The Class of 2026 selected to install Picture Communication Boards in parks around the county as their class project, helping support a space that encourages inclusion, communication, and play for families across Harrison County. This project represents what leadership is all about, identifying a community need and working together to make something meaningful happen.

We’re proud of Amber Lemmon and the entire Class of 2026 for the work they’ve put into this project and the positive impact it will continue to have for years to come.

As we continue our 3rd Annual Fundraising Campaign, we invite you to help support programs that develop future leaders and encourage community-driven projects like this throughout Harrison County.
