Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) was founded in 1996 by the Harrison County Commissioners, with an initial donation from Caesars Southern Indiana. HCCF’s mission is to inspire and assist everyone to experience philanthropy, producing positive and sustainable growth in Harrison County. To date, HCCF has awarded over $105 million in grants, scholarships, and other support to Harrison County non-profits and residents.

The Harrison County Community Foundation signed on to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (DPIL) in 2008 to give the community's children the best start in life. Inspired by Dolly Parton’s own dad, who couldn’t read or write.

While our hearts are incredibly sad, we’re more inspired than ever to continue this important mission. Together, we are building a brighter future for our children.

The Foundation provides ongoing support for the cost of distributing DPIL books through the Early Readers Fund. There is currently a $2 for $1 match on donations to the Early Readers Fund, allowing you to double your impact and help put books into the hands of Harrison County children. August marks Derrick Grigsby's 15th work anniversary with the Harrison County Community Foundation!

In his role as CFO, Derrick handles most business functions related to HCCF's financial health and transparency. This includes working closely with the Finance Committee to develop investment and spending strategies, along with the Audit Committee to expand and monitor internal controls. Derrick is most excited about the growth of Builder's Funds and the flexibility they give HCCF to respond to the changing needs of the community. He says it has been amazing to see donors embrace these endowed funds with the help of Lilly Endowment's matching initiatives.

Derrick's impact reaches beyond his role with HCCF. He is a former board member of Leadership Harrison County and Harrison County Lifelong Learning, and he currently serves on the Harrison County Public Library board.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Harrison County is now accepting applications.

This scholarship provides full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 to one Harrison County high school graduate every year.

The Fall Application Cycle for the Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) Arts Project Support (APS) Grant is currently available. APS grants provide funding to support a public-facing short-term arts project or a series of arts activities. HCCF will provide matching funds to organizations serving Harrison County and to Harrison County schools receiving an IAC APS grant award.
