Building Our Future Together

Harrison County Community Foundation (HCCF) was founded in 1996 by the Harrison County Commissioners, with an initial donation from Caesars Southern Indiana. HCCF’s mission is to inspire and assist everyone to experience philanthropy, producing positive and sustainable growth in Harrison County. To date, HCCF has awarded over $105 million in grants, scholarships, and other support to Harrison County non-profits and residents.

The last Fundraisers Group Meeting in 2026 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, November 10, from noon to 1 pm, at Harrison County Lifelong Learning.

At this meeting, Jeff McCaffrey of McCaffrey Accounting & Tax, LLC, will cover the components of a donor tax acknowledgment letter and provide practical guidance on what should be included.

The teams working on the construction of the new Boys & Girls Club in Palmyra recently welcomed key members of their organizations for an on-site tour of the facility.

The tour gave attendees a chance to see the progress firsthand, walk through the developing spaces, and learn more about the work taking place as construction continues. It was an exciting glimpse at what was once a vision and what will soon serve children and families in Harrison County.

HCCF's Jump Start Preschool program offers subsidized, high-quality preschool (pre-K) education for three, four, or five-year-old children in Harrison County at these 12 locations.

Looking to go back to school? Two scholarships for Harrison County adults are currently accepting applications.

HCCF's Adult Scholarships exist to assist Harrison County adult residents in completing an associate degree, bachelor's degree, or certificate training program.

Miles' Fund provides scholarship support for adult students pursuing a trade or vocational program. Funding may be used for tuition, books, fees and required tools, uniforms, or supplies.

Visit hccfindiana.org/hccf-scholarship-applications to learn more about eligibility requirements and apply. The deadline to apply is before 4 pm on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

HCCF's last board governance training of 2026 is Tuesday, October 20, from 9 am to 3 pm, at Harrison County Lifelong Learning.

Nonprofits and other entities seeking grant funding from HCCF are required to have at least one current board member who has completed this training.

The final day to register is Thursday, October 15. The training session costs $100 but will be refunded after completion. Lunch is provided. Visit https://ow.ly/PK5w50ZTgHB to register.

The Donald and Eileen Franks Builder's Fund is one of 74 Builder's Funds held at the Foundation, providing flexible funding options that allow HCCF's Board of Directors to approve funds for the most pressing community needs as they arise, often alongside other grant funding. Eleven endowment funds have been established at the Harrison County Community Foundation so far in 2026, bringing the total number of funds held at HCCF to 377. While each fund has a unique purpose, all share a common goal of enriching the lives and well-being of Harrison County residents.

Today, the Harrison County Community Foundation is recognizing Give Like Dolly Day. This day celebrates Dolly Parton's Imagination Library (DPIL) and those who help sustain HCCF's sponsorship of the program.

Since 2008, more than 335,000 books have been delivered to Harrison County children from birth to age five. Currently, 1,535 young readers in Harrison County receive a free book each month because of the continued generosity of donors and the community.

The Foundation provides ongoing support for the cost of distributing DPIL books through the Early Readers Fund. Donations to this fund are currently matched $2 for $1, doubling the impact and helping put books in the hands of Harrison County children.
