Thank you all for celebrating September as recovery month with us and watching all of our September spotlights.
While we bragged on a big group of our graduates, we still have so many more.
Genesis House has over 85 graduates that are trudging towards recovery every day!
We are proud of each and every one of them.
Our day to day operations include our current residents, but also our graduates. They plug back into the house. They show up for dinners, naps on the couch and class. They call us for advice about pot roasts, coffee machines and financial decisions. They stress over their kids and schedules and call to vent. They invite us to weddings, baby showers and house warming parties. They share updates with courts and DCS. They continue to keep us involved in their life and they keep us really busy doing it.
And we wouldn't want it any other way!
They have found family at GH and a forever home they know they're always welcome at.
We love our girls and are grateful you celebrated this party month alongside us.
Congrats to all of the alumni crew, not just those honored.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Kortne came to us with a trail of wreckage to clean up. She buckled down and focused on doing what she needed to get her kids back in her life. Kortne met every goal and expectation and eventually closed her case with DCS. She obtained stable employment, purchased a car and began working towards independence.
While we don't see Kortne as much as we like, she has set up a few towns over and has built a life for herself and her kids. She is currently training for a higher position at her job and working towards purchasing a house!
She is in a healthy relationship and gets to have her kids every weekend. She is often seen going on adventures with her kids and loving on her dogs.
Kortne is proof that you can overcome barriers and build back even better, IF you are willing to do the work. Keep doing hard things Kort. We love you.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Chloe is one of our younger graduates, which proves that no matter how old you are you can choose to stop using and change your life whenever you're ready.
Chloe came in determined to do something different. She put her head down and did the work. Obtaining a job and a car during her stay, and working hard to rebuild the relationship with her family- most importantly her son.
Chloe graduated and worked towards getting her own apartment and moving into a career. Chloe is now a member of the carpenter's union and loves the feelings of accomplishment working at her hands-on job.
Chloe now has full custody of her son, a nicer newer car and a level of independence she always yearned for. She is working to break the cycle of addiction and to show her family that recovery is possible.
We love Chloe's fun personality and bright smile, but also her willingness to try new things, put in hard work and show up- even when she doesn't want to.
We see you Chloe. Keep pushing forward.

Today's September Spotlight
Miss Rachel was not supposed to come to Genesis according to her sentencing, but God had other plans. GH was full, except for our 911 bed when we got a call from the prosecutor asking us for a favor.
Rachel came in scared and big eyed, but jumped right in doing all the things necessary to take full advantage of her opportunity.
After completing GH Rach was able to work in treatment for over four years, as a harm reduction specialist and on a crisis stabilization unit.
She regained custody of her children and began focusing her attention on advocating for them and navigating systems to get them the care they needed. Rachel is now a stay at home Mom, showing up for her autistic son and learning to homestead.
Rachel aims to provide a safe home, free from trauma, that promotes healing. Actions like these break the generational cycle of the disease of addiction.
Rachel attends Church regularly and mentors at Genesis House.
While her journey hasn't been perfect, she has pivoted with every twist and focused on the end goal: To heal. She continues to work on personal healing and attends SOAR groups and therapy regularly.
Rachel is a great example of healing starting at home. We are honored to be on this journey with her. Keep on trudging girl. We love you.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Leighann has a personality out of this world. While it took a minute for us to understand her and follow her stories, we instantly fell in love with her quirky side. Leighann is confident in who she is and has no apologies for her belief in Big Foot, aliens and skin walkers.
Leighann was a hot mess when she first got to GH but has maintained stable employment and moved up to team lead at her work. She has obtained her certified peer support certification through the state. She sponsors women in the program and mentors many others in life. She lives independently and manages life on life's terms.
Leighann has made her health her priority and cherishes life today.
She has a beautiful relationship with her daughter and has rebuilt trust with her dad as well.
Leighann is an avid animal lover and treats her cat Behavin like royalty.
Leighann makes each room she enters a better space with her positive attitude, sense of humor and beautiful smile.
She has built a relationship with God and trusts His plans for her life.
She is serious about a lot of things, but especially about her recovery. You can often hear her share that if she can get well, so can anyone else. We love her commitment to life today.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Lori came to us describing her life as emotional soup. Things were running all over the place, blending together and making a mess and she didn't have the tools and support she needed. Lori jumped right into recovery and took everything seriously. She did not cut corners or check boxes. It was very apparent she was fed up and would no longer tolerate alcohol in her life.
Lori maintained stable employment and showed up, no matter how hard it was. She moved out and focused on being a strong independent woman and did so for several years before finally entering into a healthy relationship with a loving partner.
Lori eventually changed jobs transitioning into a career she loves and moved into a new house with a man she loves.
Today she has excellent relationships with her grown sons.
She was baptized a few years ago and continues to be of service to others in recovery. She sets a true example of freely giving back what was given to her.
Lori is a joy to be around and an honor to walk alongside in recovery. She will be celebrating six years in a few months and continues to place her recovery first.
Keep up the great work madam. You are such a strong force in recovery.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Brittany was a terrible interview and one of the residents we almost didn't take. She couldn't find the right words to say and struggled with communicating and expressing herself. On the recommendation of a friend we brought her home anyway and within a few months we all grew to love her.
Brittany spent a lot of time with us, eventually becoming our night monitor, and was the first resident to ever joke that they were going to get social security checks and never leave. While we did eventually push her out of the nest, we are happy to say that she is coming up on her sixth year of sobriety!
Brittany has been working in the treatment field for four years now, and at the same job, showing her level of commitment and dedication.
She gave birth to a healthy son two years ago and rebuilt the relationship with her oldest son, earning trust back. Brittany has a great relationship with her dad today as well.
This past year she was finally able to start taking family vacations again!
Brittany recently moved into a house with a big yard for her son to play in and feels safe and secure for the first time in years.
She has learned too communicate better and set boundaries with others, but most importantly she has learned to love herself and show up for herself.
We love Brittany's weekly visits and her ridiculous stories and are so proud of the woman she has become.
Recovery looks good on you, keep doing what you're doing.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Amanda worked hard to w**d out negativity in her life. While it was a struggle to change her thinking and become more positive, the rewards have been evident in her life.
Amanda has stable employment and has moved up to a manager position. She recently upgraded her car to a newer and nicer model. She obtained her certified peer recovery coach earlier this year and became a board member for a local recovery home.
Amanda has rebuilt relationships with her family, most importantly her grown sons.
Her biggest focus this year has been building her relationship with God. She recently attended a retreat, growing her faith and trusting more in Him.
Amanda's attitude has made a complete 180. She is happy today, in a healthy relationship and living independently. Amanda has learned to trust the process and just keep swimming- no matter how hard it is.
Keep doing hard things Amanda. We see you!

Today's September Spotlight:
Amber is a ray of sunshine. Her chill personality and bright smile draw everyone in.
Amber has pushed herself so much by working full time and going to school full time. Not only did she go back to school, she aced all of her courses! She has done all of this while balancing her recovery and mental health.
Amber began working in recovery this last year, helping others find their passion again. She has earned her licensed massage therapist this year and is currently working towards her canine massage certificate.
Amber has a great relationship with her daughter today and her significant other.
Amber plans to move into her own place soon.
She is proving that your dreams work if you do. Amber is a great example of what happens when you put in the work. We love you sis and are so incredibly happy for you.

Today's September Spotlight:
Miss Tara has grown tremendously since coming to GH. She came in on a mission, to get herself well so she could be a better mom. And my oh my has she done that!
Tara made her mental health a top priority and because she was able to get it in check, the rest of her life came together pretty quickly.
Today Tara is a reliable young lady that follows through with her commitments. This is evident in her job, her recovery and her home life.
Tara has recently been able to get an apartment of her own and get her kiddos back, as well as purchase a new car. She gets to be a full-time mom today and shows up for everything that matters.
Tara continues to work with her sponsor, and sponsors women in our house. Her loving approach and no-nonsense attitude helps her pour into her own sobriety by giving back what was so freely given to her.
We love when Tara comes to visit and freely hands out hugs and smiles to everyone around. We are so proud of you for taking your recovery seriously.
Keep it up girl; You've got a fan club watching
