We have the best community!
A group of ladies came together to bless our residents with bogg bags stuffed with personal hygiene items and so much more!
Talk about making the ladies feel loved.
Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this possible.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated items and time to help us get our yard sale items together. And thank you to everyone who showed up and showed out, even in terrible rainy weather, to support our house and our ladies.
Our first yard sale was considered a success and we will be continuing this fundraiser in the future.

A huge thank you to Heartland Church of the Nazarene in Floyd's K***s. Their women's group showered our ladies with gifts tonight for a house warming party for GH3.
What a thoughtful idea!
We are so grateful for community support and involvement. It means so much to the women to know that they are loved and prayed for.
We have been asked for a wish list, so I'm sharing the link in our comments to our house warming list if anyone is interested.
Thank you again Heartland. We are so blessed to have you in our circle.

The hits keep coming for our graduates.
We cannot imagine what Becca and her family are going through.
Please pray for them. They are so overwhelmed right now. And if you find it in your heart to give towards the burial, there's a link in the news story.
We will continue to check in on her and offer her love and support. But we fully understand there is nothing you can truly do other than be there for them when they're ready.

A fundraising effort has been launched to help the family of 17-year-old Hunter Blaine Rowley, who tragically passed away Saturday evening following an apparent shooting and vehicle crash in rural Washington County.

*****Thank you for the outpouring of support.. We have been able to distribute gift cards and clothing to the ladies, along with dog supplies. We have a few who have reached out about repairing the floor in the camper, but it may not be salvageable. Still looking for long term, affordable felon and dog friendly housing.
But we appreciate all the love, kindness and prayers you shared so far. We are so grateful for our community.

UPDATE:
The lady who lives in the camper has only requested help fixing the camper floor and restablizing it. She is not asking for money and believes lots of others have it worse than her. She also said most of her personal items were salvageable. But if you know of someone that may help her repair her home that would be greatly appreciated.
The lady who lost everything loves her pit bull named Franky more than anything. She is requesting tough toys for him. They cannot have stuffing. He's a beast. He will also need an XL heavy duty dog crate. I did not get the brand of food he eats but I'm sure that might help as well. For herself she is requesting size 8 tennis shoes, black XL leggings for work, 2XL shirts and pajamas. 42C bra and size 8 underwear. Ankle socks. She has been gifted work shoes and hygiene already.
I'm sure that this list will grow as they realize things that are missing or things that they do not have, but currently they are both very humble and not asking for much at all.
They are both staying with folks right now, but I know I love a good pillow and soft blanket to call my own. So maybe a few things to make them more comfortable.
Again, they will be looking for felon friendly rental housing that is also pet friendly. They would like to stay in Harrison county area, close to their support system and employers.
When they get settled, they will need to rebuild their homes and will need furniture and household supplies but it's way too soon for that right now as they are just taking it day by day.

Thank you. Please send any questions to Genesis House on messenger. I can get you in touch with them if you are wanting to assist with repairs me Also if you want to drop off a donation they can arrive at Genesis and we will distribute. If you want to donate money, please use our pay pal @ Harrison County substance abuse prevention coalition or our venmo and mark the donation for flood. All donations received will be given to the ladies to make repairs, purchase necessary items or get a meal. Thank you.

As most of you know, Corydon experienced some flash flooding yesterday. Our properties were fine but two of our graduate's homes are in a total loss state.
One graduate was renting and has lost all of her belongings and will be looking for a felon friendly rental that is also dog friendly.
The other graduate and her husband (who is also in recovery) owned a camper that now needs a new sub floor and has mold spots already climbing the walls. So it may not be salvageable.
These ladies are our graduates. They are our family.
We will assist with cleaning and whatever service we can offer to them.
But we also understand how serious of an impact this will have on them. Individuals in early recovery typically land in a lower paying job with less hours than they would like. They struggle to find stable and secure housing, as most folks don't want to rent to them because of what a piece of paper says. They may live paycheck to paycheck and have very little savings placed back for situations like this.
To say we are worried about them is an understatement.
I have asked the ladies to send me a list of items they are in need of. If you would like to donate items or money, I can promise you that it will reach them and be used wisely.
They can also use prayers.
Accepting something like this is hard for anyone, but for someone who already feels like they can't catch a break it's overwhelming.
These ladies need all the love and support they can get, in addition to food, shelter and clothing.

Tiffany, our program director, started an initiative with the Floyd County Jail to carry the message to incarcerated women.
During her first week she was met with a captive audience of 30 women!
12 step recovery teaches us that you only keep what you have by giving it away. We are excited to see Tiffany grow as she selflessly shares her time and knowledge with the women and we are hopeful to see a lasting impact in the lives she's touching outside of our home.
We are grateful for the partnership with the jail and for the sheriff and his team seeing the benefit of peer led recovery and trusting Tiffany to carry it out safely and effectively.
