When school lets out, family grocery budgets get stretched very thin. School meals disappear, but food costs certainly don't. And for some families, making sure there's enough food to get through the week becomes a real challenge.

And yes, it's happening to a lot of families right here in our community.

☀️ That's why Haven House launched "Snack Attack Sacks!"

EVERY CHILD in a participating household receives a snack bag EVERY WEEK!

When we started talking about this program, we knew there would be a need, but holy cow, it's sure something to realize just how many kids in our community will benefit from it.

The truth is, there are a lot of children in the Bitterroot Valley facing food insecurity right now. A lot.

And while we're incredibly proud to be providing these bags, keeping them filled week after week is going to take all of us. This isn't a one-time project. It's every week, all summer long.

Because hunger doesn't take a break.

We can do a lot, but we know with the community's help, we can do a whole lot more!

So if you're ready to help us out, here's what we're currently collecting! 👇

• Granola bars
• Fruit snacks
• Crackers
• Applesauce pouches
• Fruit cups
• Juice boxes and juice pouches
• Trail mix
• Mac n' Cheese Cups
• Other individually packaged, kid-friendly snacks

This is one of those moments where a community gets to show up for its kids. Thanks for ALWAYS being such great neighbors. 🏠💛

I joined the board of Loads Of Dignity because I belive in the mission and have seen first hand the difference LOD makes in the lives of so many in our community. I'm now reaching out to you, asking you to join us in our mission.
145 loads of laundry is an average week for Loads Of Dignity. We are humbled and grateful to be able to offer this to our guests. We also provide hygiene kits for adults and children.
We cannot do this alone, we need the help of our community.
Please look over the list below and if you're able pick up some of our needed items.

Laundry Needs: laundry detergent
Fabric softener or sheets

Adult hygiene needs: Shampoo/conditioner
Body wash
Deodorant (men's and women's)

Children's hygiene needs: toothbrushes
Toothpaste

Children's activity needs .. because waiting at a laundry mat isn't much fun: coloring/activity books
Crayons
Small toys
Fidget toys
Mini Lego sets or building sets.

UPDATE:
Many of you may remember the sweet 8-year-old who invited me to his home for his special homemade macaroni and cheese dinner.
I have some wonderful news to share. His family has found housing and is settling into their new home. Because they now have a washer and dryer of their own, my dinner invitation has been postponed for a little while.
His mom recently shared a message from him. He wanted me to know that as soon as he gets his room set up and learns where all the pots and pans belong in the kitchen, he'll invite me over.
But that's not all…
When he first invited me, he told me I would need to bring my own drink because he wasn't sure what I liked. I told him I love lemonade. He smiled and said he liked lemonade too, but sometimes it was so sour it made his face look funny.
His message for me this time was that he's been practicing. He wanted me to know that he's working on his lemonade recipe and thinks he's finally gotten it to where it won't make my face look funny when I drink it.
So now I'm looking forward not only to his famous macaroni and cheese but also to what I'm certain will be an amazing glass of homemade lemonade.
Most of all, I'm celebrating that this little boy and his family are finally home. Sometimes the biggest victories aren't measured in loads of laundry. Sometimes they're measured in a child proudly preparing to welcome a guest into his very own home.

Recently, I was invited to dinner by an 8-year-old child we serve.
He excitedly shared that he would be making his special homemade macaroni and cheese...the best I would ever have.
With pride and joy, he told me how he would serve me, not as someone in need, but simply as a host welcoming a guest.
What stood out most to me was not the invitation itself, but the perspective behind it.
To him, there is no difference between his life and anyone else’s.
His camp trailer is his home, and within it, he experiences family, pride, and belonging...just like any other child.
This moment is a powerful reminder that the individuals and families we serve are not defined by their circumstances or where they live.
