Christian Veterans of the Bitterroot

“Jesus then said to his disciples, ‘If any man will follow me, let him forsake himself: and take up his cross, and follow me.’”
Matthew 16:24, 1599 Geneva Bible

Corvallis, MT – The Christian Veterans of the Bitterroot is a group of followers of Jesus Christ who have served in the military. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, then you have a place in this group. Our motto is “give back with love,” and our goal is to help fellow veterans, their families and the local community through prayer and work. We want all Christians, particularly veterans, to know that they are not alone, and we and others are here to help them.

We believe local Christians need to stand up and show solidarity with fellow Christians here and around the world. The Christian Veterans of the Bitterroot are asking all Christians in the Bitterroot Valley to “Walk for Jesus Christ” on Saturday, April 4th, 2026. You don’t need to be a veteran to participate in the march.

The march will start at 7:00 a.m. at the Angler’s Roost south of Hamilton. We will proceed north along the U.S. Highway 93 on the Bitterroot Trail to Set Free Christian Fellowship Church in Lolo, Montana.

We are asking valley churches, youth groups, families, friends, and individuals to participate by walking a three-mile section as a group. Your time commitment is the drive to the checkpoint, a one-hour walk, and then the drive home. We still need cross bearers for this year’s march. Please pray for those planning this magnificent event.

For more information call Brian Wrede (four zero six) 369-5813 or attend the Christian Veterans of the Bitterroot prayer breakfast at BJ’s every Monday at 7:00 am. You can also go to http://corvallispost91.blogspot.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/corvallispost91

The Corvallis American Legion Post #91 is raising funds to complete Phase #1 of our Flagpole Project at the new baseball facility in Corvallis, Montana!

03/09/2026

Corvallis American Legion Post #91, will celebrate the American Legion’s Birthday, starting at 6 pm, Thursday, March 12th, at Higherground Brewery in Hamilton.

The American Legion turns 107 this year, so come down and help us celebrate.

There will be door prizes for veterans who attend.

“The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization. Focusing on service to veterans, servicemembers and communities, the Legion evolved from a group of war-weary veterans of World War I into one of the most influential nonprofit groups in the United States. Membership swiftly grew to over 1 million, and local posts sprang up across the country. Today, membership stands at over 1.6 million in more than 12,000 posts worldwide. The posts are organized into 55 departments: one each for the 50 states, along with the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, France, Latin America, and the Philippines.

Over the years, the Legion has built its identity by achieving hundreds of benefits and services for veterans, supporting the U.S. Armed Forces and instilling the values of responsible citizenship among young people. From the nation-changing of The American Legion-drafted GI Bill to relief for veterans exposed to toxic contamination in the service, veterans of The American Legion have worked for over a century to improve and strengthen the nation they swore with their lives to defend.”

It is with profound respect and deep gratitude that we remember Edna Nasca, a beloved and dedicated member of American Legion Post #91 in Corvallis, Montana. Edna’s leadership, service, and commitment to our veterans and community were nothing short of extraordinary.

Edna served honorably in the U.S. Army, proudly representing her country and setting an example of service that carried into her civilian life.

For more than two decades, Edna gave tirelessly to the American Legion, its Auxiliary, and countless veteran-focused efforts. She joined Post #91 in 2000 and served in every capacity with dedication — from Sergeant at Arms to Commander, and later as Post Commander and executive officer. Her leadership helped shape our post and deepen our impact in honoring those who served. She was also a long-time member of our Auxiliary and served her fellow veterans in roles across multiple veteran organizations.

Edna’s passion extended far beyond meetings — she was a pillar of our Honor Guard, ensuring every veteran received the respect and tribute they deserved. She worked with unwavering devotion to organize Memorial Day parades, post events, flag ceremonies, and so many community gatherings that honored our nation’s heroes.

In 2022, Edna was chosen as Grand Marshal of the Corvallis Memorial Day Parade, a testament to her leadership, her selfless advocacy for veterans, and the admiration she earned from all who knew her.

Words cannot fully capture the depth of Edna’s impact — on our Post, on our community, and on the lives of those she served alongside. She was more than a leader; she was a mentor, a friend, and a steadfast advocate for veterans and their families.

We honor her memory, her legacy of service, and the countless ways she made our American Legion family stronger. Her spirit will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the values she lived every day: duty, honor, and loyalty.

Rest in peace, Edna — and thank you for your service, your leadership, and your enduring legacy.
