Way to go SCDC member!

Progress is continuing at the Coos County Fairgrounds as the new amphitheater project takes shape in Myrtle Point!

Oregon Pacific Bank is proud to partner with the Coos County Fair & Rodeo and other community supporters to help create what will become the largest outdoor entertainment venue on the South Coast — a multi-phase project designed to host events, entertainment, and community gatherings for years to come.

Over the last three years, Oregon Pacific Bank has contributed more than $9,000 toward the project through a five-year sponsorship commitment. These funds have helped support construction of the raised stage and installation of electrical service to the venue.

Future phases will include the stage cover structure, fencing, and additional site improvements as this exciting community-driven project continues to grow.

We also want to recognize the incredible volunteers helping bring this vision to life, including Gary Haga, Jason Wilson, and Keith Lewis, whose dedication and hard work continue to move the project forward.

Community-driven projects like this create more than venues — they create opportunities for connection, economic growth, and lasting memories throughout Coos County.

"Thirty-five years ago, Mike Keiser took a chance on Oregon. He invested his time and his money in pursuit of a vision whose success was far from certain. Keiser spent years looking for the right location to build something truly visionary. He found it on the Oregon coast".

Support for rural nonprofits is geared towards programs, not towards building the capacity it takes to sustain them. Without general operating support, these organizations live in a constant state of “almost.” They are prepared to do more, to serve more, and to strengthen their communities more deeply, but are never fully resourced to step forward.

Even in survival mode, rural nonprofits and CBOs continue to cover gaps no one else sees. They navigate crises, fill service gaps, and hold together their community fabric with ingenuity and persistence. Their impact is not small and truly essential to the communities they serve.

But essential work cannot run on scarcity.

If we want rural communities to thrive, we must invest in the organizations already doing the work. General operating dollars aren’t unnecessary. They’re what allow rural nonprofits to plan ahead, retain and train staff, build relationships, and meet local needs with stability instead of exhaustion.

Rural nonprofits and CBOs know what their communities need. With real investment behind them, they could do that work not just with heart, but to their full capacity.
