Salmon, Science, and a whole LOT of hands-on Learning!🐟

Our fifth graders headed to Morgan Creek Fish Hatchery today, and it looked a bit different than their average day at school 😉.

Miss Sam from ODFW, and the fantastic hatchery volunteers, put our students to work catching, sorting, and releasing fish, along with harvesting salmon eggs. Miss Sam also brought out a salmon for dissection, giving our students a firsthand look at the organs and tissues that make up these fish. Science class just got a whole lot fishier!

And we’re not done yet! Come January, we’re hoping to get a salmon tank set up right here at Riverview so that our students can watch baby salmon grow and eventually help release them back at the hatchery.

We love getting our Warriors out into the community, learning from the people who know our local resources best, and getting their hands dirty (or fishy, as the case may be).

If you think Miss Julie just drives a 🚍, you clearly haven’t tuned in to her morning weather reports! 😂 Part meteorologist, part comedian, and 100% Miss Julie, she delivers the forecast with enough personality to wake up even the sleepiest staff member. Around here, checking the weather is less about the rain and more about what Julie’s going to say about it! 🚌🌦️

Things got a little messy in Mrs. Silva’s kindergarten class today! Our little scientists got up close and personal with the parts of a pumpkin, because apparently “pumpkin goop” and “slime stuff” aren’t the official scientific terms. 😂 Who knew?!

There were seeds flying (and counting!), hands and elbows deep in pumpkin mush, and smiles all around. A little mess, a lot of learning, and some very happy kiddos!

We’re so thankful for our amazing teachers who bring learning to life and make even the messiest lessons fun, festive, and full of memories. ❤️

🍕 Feed ’em Friday was a cheesy success! 🍕

Our Entrepreneur Class took over Friday lunch and came ready to sauce some serious fun! From prepping dough and toppings to slinging pizzas in the wood-fired oven, these students were on a roll. (Sorry, we had to 😂)

The pizza was flying, the ovens were hot, and apparently, the smell was too much for Mr. Carlson to resist. We caught him sneaking in a few pizzas of his own… where those pizzas went after they came out of the oven? Well, that’s a mystery we may never solve 😉.

But here’s the best part: every dollar from Feed ’em Fridays goes right back into our culinary program, and we’ve got some exciting things cooking! 🔥 Our culinary kitchen is gearing up for a commercial-style upgrade, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Good pizza, great students, and a little missing pizza mystery on the side. Sounds like a pretty dough-lightful Friday to us! 🍕🙌

🇫🇷 🇧🇪 🇩🇪 History class is going places (and we mean really going places)!🇫🇷 🇧🇪 🇩🇪

In February of 2028, RCS students will have the opportunity to trade the classroom for Europe on a 10-day, history-packed journey through some of the most significant sites of World War II. And trust us, this is one history lesson you can’t get from a textbook.

Here’s a little preview of what’s in store 👇

🇫🇷 NORMANDY, FRANCE

Check out Omaha Beach, visit the American Cemetery, explore Pointe du Hoc, and dive into the history of D-Day at the Caen War Museum. These are the places where history unfolded, and where the stories become all the more real.

🗼 PARIS, FRANCE

WWII history meets the City of Light. We’ll explore Les Invalides, walk through the city’s wartime history, visit the Shoah and Deportation Memorials and the Liberation Museum, and wrap up with the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night. Because even a history-packed trip deserves a little Paris magic.

🇧🇪 BELGIUM

We’ll visit the 101st Airborne Museum and see the actual foxholes in the Bois Jacques forest. Yes, the actual foxholes. Talk about stepping into history.

🇩🇪 BERLIN, GERMANY

From the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag to Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, the Topography of Terror, and Checkpoint Charlie, Berlin offers a powerful look at the history that shaped the world. And getting there? A high-speed train ride, because even the transportation is going to be an adventure!

Current RCS students in grades 8–11 are eligible for this incredible opportunity to learn, explore, and experience history beyond the classroom.

One accidental twinning? Cute. BUT THREE?! 😂 The odds were odds-ing at school drop-off! These girls showed up dressed like they had a group chat and a secret dress code. The looks on their faces were EVERYTHING. Accidental triplets, matching legends.

Our students are giving pumpkins a whole new look! 🖍️

Mrs. Reagan kicked off our new Art Club, which meets throughout the month, and last week’s project was all about oil pastels! Students got busy sketching, blending, and putting their own spin on these fall favorites. No two pumpkins turned out the same, and that’s our favorite part 😉.

One step closer to the future… one coffee run at a time! ☕️

Our upperclassmen celebrated signing up for the PSAT this week with a coffee run (because apparently, that’s the official fuel of the teenage years 😆).

But in all seriousness, this is an exciting step as they begin preparing for life after high school! The PSAT gives them a chance to see where they’re shining and where they might need a little extra practice before the SAT.

The SAT can play an important role in college admissions and scholarship opportunities, so these next steps matter!

🍂We’re falling for learning! Our preschoolers have been picking vowels straight from the pumpkin patch and adding a little pumpkin spice to their math skills, too! 🍁

This bunch of busy little learners is growing their ABCs, counting skills, and big imaginations one pumpkin at a time. Future authors and mathematicians? We think so! 📚
